I feel like I'm trying to re-invent the wheel here, there has to be an easier way. I have the ADJ DMX Operator and want to use non-DMX fixtures. I need my first 8 fixtures to be 1-1, so #1 starts at channel 1, #2 starts at channel 2, etc. Then my DMX fixtures can be worked in at channel 9. How does one do this on this board? Am I stuck with 16 channels per fixture and no chance at using my DMX dimmer packs?

Start your DMX fixtures at 17, and then patch them in blocks of 16 channels, so 33, 49, etc.
Address your dimmer pack to address 1, and then address 5, for Two 4 channel dimmer packs.

Thanks, but I'm not sure how to use the ADJ Operator controller with the dimmer pack. How do I get fixture 2 to control DMX channel 2 (not channel 17)?
Wait, so can I control each of my 1-8 fixtures on the first DMX dimmer with the channel buttons on the console? That could work, right? It would just all be considered fixture 1 on the board...
Maybe you are confused, but a DMX operator works on blocks of 16 DMX channels across 12 fixtures. (16x12= 192 DMX channels)
So with fixture button one selected, you have access to the first 8 DMX channels, and then when you press the button to switch from 1-8 to 9-16, you then have access to the other 8 channels.
So for two 4ch dimmer packs, address one of them to 1 and the other to 5, and you'll have access to all of the individual channels under fixture button 1.
Now your DMX lights can start at address 17, and once you press fixture button 2, and fader one, that is channel 17.
Making sense now? you have access to all 192 DMX channels the board gives you over 12 blocks of 16 channels in which one set of 8 is there, and then with a button press, they switch to the other half of the 16 channels in that fixture number.
Thank you, this thought came to me last night and is making sense now. I'm going to try to re-address my DMX fixture to accommodate 16 channels each and see if I can full control. Thank you so much for your help and patience.
No worries, once you grasp the basics, the rest will flow naturally.
and then in a few years you'll be ready for the big boy desks like a ONYX Nx-2 or Compu show with midicon etc
