Hello All,

First time poster and very new user of ADJ products, so please go easy if I missed something critical in my google searching. I purchased a myDMX buddy and am using the myDMX 2.0 software. To note, I am confident I have the latest version of the software.

I have been setting up a lot of basic fixtures such as fog machines, LED strips, moving heads, etc with no issue. Recently, I purchased an Ehaho L2600 laser which has the capability to do 6 or 34 CH control over DMX. When using the 6 channel mode with a profile I imported through the myDMX 2.0 import function (I guess it searches online / through a database), it works perfectly. When using the 34 channel mode with the profile I imported (the same way as the 6 channel profile), I run into a deal breaking issue:

- When using the effects editor and selecting "curve effect", I can select the correct fixture, but when I select the desired channel, no matter what channel I select, it defaults to one of two channels, seemingly randomly.

- This prompted me to go down the rabbit hole of creating my own fixtures. This yielded the same result, albeit with the effects editor randomly selecting two different channels to always default to regardless of my actual channel selection.

- I then ran a basic test where I replaced my 34 channel fixture with an approximately equivalent number of generic RGB fixtures (just to verify that the fixture profile was the issue), and via the effect editor, I was able to select the channels I wanted to.

- Furthermore, I tried to identify if the myDMX 2.0 software begins to have issues if your fixture has more than a certain amount of channels. First, I made a fixture that had four "undefined" channels, each that had a simple dimmer as the function. Upon testing this fixture, I noticed that the effects editor, again, only selects the first channel regardless of what channel you picked in the drop down menu.

Is this a known feature of the myDMX 2.0 software? I can certainly think of a number of workarounds for this, but I would like to know if "undefined" channels in a fixture profile have known limitations when using the effects editor. If they do, certain fixtures like this Ehaho laser become cumbersome to program, mainly because the documentation is vague (read: hard to understand) and using "undefined channels" makes things easier for me to understand. But perhaps that's the wrong approach.

I've gone ahead and attached my home-brew 34 channel profile, my imported 34 channel profile and my home-brew 4-channel profile (undefined x dimmer).

Cheers,

Mark

Hello All,

I just wanted to update this topic after thinking about this for the day.

I went ahead and changed all of my undefined channels to other types of channels to the best of my ability. Low and behold, they all work as expected in the effects editor now.

My conclusion is that undefined channels, at least how I was using them, cannot be used correctly in the effects editor.

Cheers,

Mark

Well the 2.0 software itself has been discontinued for a very long time now. We had 3.0 and have now just recently released MyDMX 5 (We skipped 4, so you didn't miss anything haha)
If your hardware has only the white adj logo that lights up on the top of it and no 2 or 3 digit display that shows "OF" or "PC" then it might be time for new hardware.
