HERE YOU GO.
" In the Editor tab, for your first scene, double click on "Always loop" then
click the drop down tab. Select the number of loops, from the options
provided, that you want this scene to play. Once that is selected, double
click below the "Next" column for that same scene then click the drop down
tab. From there you can select Next, which will automatically link the next
scene in the list, or select a specific scene that you want to follow.
Repeat these steps for each scene that you want included in the scene loop."
sincerely,
well actually i am sorry i phrased it that way. i merely meant that if you try it before you buy and it is not what you want then your welcome to go purchase or try out something else that will work for your particular individual needs. im not saying that my dmx will suit everyones needs just stating that for what it does and the price it has a lot of features. also i am currently trying to develop a workaround to the live speed issue. i agree not a professional response and i apologize. sincerely,
When did a MIDI Beat Clock get added to the specification?

You either want MTC(Midi Time Code) or MMC(MIDI Machine control).

Unless you're talking pure clocks, but that's not practical.

You can have MyDMX sync to music, so if you're doing ore-recorded tracks, it appears you can dump a song into it and work to that.

What is your source? It appears that MyDMX can be trigged from a sequencer running on the same PC. If that is true, you won't need MTC, you can just use your squencer to trigger scenes.

Back to what Jungles said a few messages back:
I'm a sound production company. Not a DJ company. MyDMX is well suited for what I want to do and where I am. I might futz with the MIDI stuff, but not right now. Mainly, I don't have any sequencing software compatible with XP and so I'm not terribly motivated. Unless Cakewalk is under $100 for just a MIDI sequencer....

My preferred platform is still Master Tracks Pro on the Mac. I have 512 MIDI channels and enough gear for it to drive. Full keyboard rig, full electronic drum rig, samplers, lighting controllers, Pro Tools, other controllers and much, muhc more.
Retracting some of what I said.

You CAN sync to music but right now, it appears to be more of a "use a stopwatch and practice", not exactly graceful. I was under the impression over something I thought I saw that you could import a .wav or .MP3 in to work off of. Whatever it was that I thought I saw, I obviously thought wrong.

I can get Sonar Home for like $100. I can drop in some drum sequences and make some MIDI pablum for tweaking with. I have an inexpensive MIDI interface, so I have all the tools to see how much MyDMX can do. I need a basic sequencer handy, so $100 is no big deal. In fact, I am putting my money where my mouth is and am going to get Sonar as soon as I get a chance. Of course, I'm gonna have to take the money back out of my mouth and hope the store accepts it for payment(and I hope that money is clean!!)

Even if MyDMX doens't do any real syncing to anything, I can still see myself getting a lot done with it. My lighting does not need tight sync. I can create quick access to scenes. I figure I make 1 or 2 sequences anywhere from 2-5 minutes long to learn, then make longer sequences. All I really need quick access to is blackout, "white scene" for between songs, and a few other things. Since most of my events are simple as far as lighting is concerned. Color changes is the main thing.
I think the right answer, (as I have seen on other forums), is for Jingles to make a list of "features"... practical features, such as a timing option that can be added in the next software update of MyDMX. ALL software can continuously be updated over time... and a as a performer myself, I will most likely sync my light show to my MIDI tracks in Sonar???
Well yes, a feature list would be nice, but myDMX is just a rebrand of SunLite, so I would target most feature request to them as I'm not sure ADJ would be responsible for actually coding them into the product. Best case ADJ would just forward them as suggestions to SunLite. However Jingles is right, CompuLive is a much more feature packed version of the software.

In fact I might upgrade to it. Anyone want to buy a myDMX box?
you can use midi to trigger scenes and if you use midi to trigger songs you can use it to synch to music that way I believe. I'm going by what others have told me. I have not tried to actually do it yet. And I have said this in a different thread, we do not forsee any updates other than bug fixes should any arise for my dmx. Sincerely,
ADJ is releasing the MyDMX product, while Elation is pushing Comp Live.

Considering ADJ is more of the small to mid-range line, it makes sense to have a more scaled or feature limited version of the software. People, myself included, in this price bracket, don't forsee the need for all these other features.

For those who do, CompuLive makes perfect sense. You're stepping up to a more feature rich product.

Using MIDI triggering, I can pretty much do anything I want with MyDMX, as I can always import audio, design a sequence around/within that and have MyDMX listen. But testing that will be something I will try in a few weeks. I have my little MS-1 sampler that I can use for quick and easy input and playback so I can test everything.
Will do. Wait for my boxes of new toys to arrive, rack, wire and test them out. once that's done, this MID triggering will be my next minor project. A report will follow when I have results.

I enjoy not having to have actual lights in the house to design lighting shows, so I am glad I have MyDMX now. I can test all this and the 3D Visualizer will show me the results. Killer!
Saw your post saying you can sync music to MyDMX? How is this done? or am I not reading this quote correctly? I would love to put down a soundtrack and program a scene to that specific song (I'm in a band without a light tech).

Well, that's DMX Solo, not MyDMX.

Fades are programmed into scene and scene steps in MyDMX. You can look at these as cross-fades if you want.

How many sequences can you create? Depends what you define as a sequence. You can do a LOT with just one scen and using it's many steps. Does that count? Or multiple scenes?

But as far as sequences itself in MyDMX: Sort of a "one per saved file". You can always copy it and save-as and then tweak it again to make another sequence.
That's what I've done.

I'm either using a "snap" or instant change to the next color, or if the light supports dimming(my movers don't, for example), I have a second set that incorporates a 2-second fade. Gets the job done for me. I should work on it more, but I'm not right now. I'm too slammed with other stuff, despite having a major event this Friday.

See some of you at the SacAnime show. Or maybe not. I'm the sound guy with the big SOUND console in the vendor room.
From what I've gathered here, MyDMX can't even sync to music within itself without it being unnecessarily complicated. Really, a stopwatch? When elation supposedly offers you a visible timeline? I'm also looking to actually sync to pre-recorded material that currently stored on a ahrd disc recorded. I was hoping to use MMC to trigger scenes.... but it doesn't seem like that's possible, and even if it was, I'd have to bust out a stopwatch that rounded to the nearest thousandth of a second just so it doesn't look sloppy as hell. Did I understand that right? I'm shopping for a controller, and MyDmx is seeming less and less like what I need. All I'm looking for is easy do design/sync environment, and ability to cue via MMC. Or even use My DMX to cue the recorded if that's a possibility.
Way to necro an almost 3 year old thread.

MyDMX cannot sync to anything. It lacks any of that kind of functionality. If you want sync, you're going to have to program MIDI triggers into MyDMX and then trigger it via an EXTERNAL sequencer.

Also, MMC is for MACHINE control, such as MTR's and tape decks.

If you're looking for a design/sync environment, maybe Compu Show is what you need.
Compu show (Cuelux) doen't have midi learn. :-(

I'm a DJ and I wonder that most DMX-Software is not up to date. Look at music-software what you can do with Midi and so on.

I found only 2 software working with Mac.
One has no midi-learn and the other has no tempo control.

It's like chosing between plague and cholera...
