Alas, it works fine when manually moving the fixtures, but it will not work between scenes as I had hoped.

I probably should start a new thread about using scenes on the Elation Operator Pro. Do you think it would be best to hop over to the Elation forum or are the controllers basically the same and I can ask it here?
OK, I have 8 scenes programed in, where the 2 Vizi spots 5r will shine. When I select the scene, the lights move and the light stays on.

When I press a scene number, the lights come ungrouped (which is what they are supposed to do?), so the setting on the elation pro would only effect one, but neither black out as they pan and tilt to the next position.
Ok, so you are saying that I need to program it before I save the scene. I tried that, but it only seemed to work with one light, though I may have not had the other one grouped with it or for got to do to do it also.

Can I also program the intensity of the light in a scene. I have one that seems dimmer, and I tried bumping it up and reserving it. But it still comes out dimmer.
The way MyDMX works is via a series of total universe snapshots. It's not perfect but it's got drawbacks.

In your case, if you switch scenes, it will do whatever is in the next scene. You can add multiple steps if you must. Like, in a scene I made, step 1 was "aim the lights, shutter closed, then hold for X seconds". Step 2 was bringing those movers ON by opening the shutter.
I then went to a new scene for the next step, which was to MOVE the lights, SHUTTER OPEN to a new location.

A new scene starts out with ALL zero values. You have to set up everything each and every single time. You can cheat by using the scene you are working with and want to work off of and then start editing that copy. This is very effective and helps avoid some of these nuisance things. It's still critical that you see your results in the 3D visualizer and in real life to ensure things are done properly.

EDIT due to not paying attention:

I assumed this was a MyDMX question.

The DMX Operator and Pro start with all zero values on each scene. Well, you should zero it before you start programming. Nothing copies over, you have to redo the scenes from the ground up. This might be the time to think about moving to MyDMX though!
Hello,
I am new to the forum and I seen that this one relates to what I need. I am also new to lighting, I have been doing the lighting at my small Church since about August 2011 (est.). We just recently installed 2 of the Vizi Spot LED Pros and I am learning something new everyday. My questions are:

1.I realize the settings for blackout by movement is on channel 11 at values 226-235 and that blackout by wheel changing is at values 236-245. Is there anyway these 2 can overlap? It seems when I program one into the scene I lose the other.

*I know there are other solutions: Keeping colors white, I do have a basic scene setup to program scenes off of, so that the Vizi's are in the same spot at all times. There are some scenes that we do not use these lights for and we don't want them flying around the room during a Church Service.

2. Is there any way to color mix and come up with custom colors or do I just have to use the ones on Channel 3?

Thank you so much, any help is definitely appreciated,
Laura
Hi Laura,
Welcome to the forum. Jingles is a great source of info on this forum.
To answer your question from my experience working with Vizi LED Spot (wish I had the Pro's like you do!):
1. The two values cannot overlap on the same channel. What I've been doing is putting a step in the program which moves the fixture with the dimmer set to zero to the point where I want the beam (I don't have move-in-black feature, MIB, like you do). You could also preset colors, gobos, etc while the dimmer is at zero. The next step then would simply be to run up the dimmer to the value you want. I am running a Leprecon LPX-24 board so I run up the programmed slide then use the step button to make the changes. (My next purchase is to get myDMX. That is a dream program!)
2. If the Pro has a color wheel (I believe it does) then no, you cannot mix colors (unless you want to try putting a color in the gobo wheel and blending it with the colors on the color wheel). If you want custom colors you would either have to get a custom color for the color wheel or the fixture would have to be a RGB (preferably a RGBW) LED light source.
Just curious, what lighting console are you using?
Bill
Hi all,

I was able to put everything back together after the gym painting and it works fine if you zero everything out before choosing recording or selecting a scene.

I was able to program scenes to test out options and I decided not to use blackout while moving as it lead to too much dark time. When I get the pars back up I may try it again as they will fill in when the 5Rs are blacked out.

Thanks for your input, it saved me much frustration!
