Welcome to the July 2010 Profile Request thread. Please keep on-topic.

A few reminder rules:

1: When making a request, please state the make and model of the fixture.

2: Please post a link to the manual or a photo of the DMX traits or post the DMX traits. Please, English versions preferred.

3: If posting traits, please be as complete as possible.

4: Please be patient. It's best to make sure you're not under a deadline, like "I need it in 2 hours" for example. Please allow a bit of time. A couple of days is reasonable.

5: Please check the updated scan library link on the my dmx product page for your fixtures before requesting profiles. Or join my shared drop box folder. http://db.tt/6q9QkL The link for profiles on the my dmx product page can be found at the bottom of every one of my post.

Also let me add that if someone else get's their profile before you but you posted your request before them please do not be offended as some profiles take more time than others
Thanks and have fun.

James -

I need a fixture profile for the VENUE Dual Laser Pack. DMX Control Table is below:

CHANNEL/FUNCTION/DMX VALUE/DETAIL
---------------------------------------------
CH1/MODE/0-20/CLOSE LASER AND SCANNER HEAD STOP
/21-120/DYNAMIC GRAPHICS
/121-220/STATIC GRAPHICS
/221-255 SOUND ACTIVE MODE
---------------------------------------------
CH2/PATTERN SELECTION/0-255/40 PATTERNS
---------------------------------------------
CH3/PAN/0-255/PAN MOVEMENT
---------------------------------------------
CH4/TILT/0-255/TILT MOVEMENT
---------------------------------------------
CH5/SCAN SPEED/0-255/0-255 FAST TO SLOW
---------------------------------------------
CH6/SPEED OF DYNAMIC PATTERN/0-255/0-255 FAST TO SLOW
---------------------------------------------
CH7/SIZE OF STATIC PATTERN/0-255/0-255 SMALL TO BIG
---------------------------------------------

Thanks for your help!

LGM
A note on Channel 2: You mention 40 patterns. IS there an interval break-down, such as like what you show on Channel 1?

The reason is that ou can do a few nifty things in the profile programming for this fixture on that pattern thing to make it a bit friendlier to use.

(I'm not volunteering to make a profile, just tying to help get more data)
hello James,
for some reasons, the profile for the led 64 is not working.

i checked each channel the results as follow:
1-blue
2-green
3-red
4-speed
5-strobe
6-color changing fast
7-color changing slow
8-color changing on sound activated
9-(seem no different from 8)
10- all off DIP (i don't know what DIP stands for?)

also, i have read about the post of your about making/edit the profile. where can i get that tool/software?
If after checking the DIP switches and where you've mapped the fixture in MyDMX, try again. Remember, you don't need the profile to use the fixture in MyDMX, it just makes the fixture "human friendly". Try using the fixture with MyDMX without a profile. All DIPS in OFF position(typically DOWN). Any results? Use channels 1-9 in your case. I find it odd there is no dimmer channel, but chances are it's a lesser featured/cost can, so they tend to skip that. Throw channels 1-3 to FULL on. Then play with the others one at a time and see what happens.

Also, which 64 LED can is it?(make and model), because they aren't all the same.

Lastly, typical stuff: use DMX cabling, use a DMX terminator....
thank you
after many tries, i finally found out the the #10 DIP SWITCH must be on with the address switches. (if i want control the first light, switch #1 and #10 must be on

these cans are no name - i got from ebay (Hong Kong) a little scare, but they worked good after all i got 6 for 240 - not bad
Well, as long as things are working, all is well. Always helps to read the manuals too. Did they hide that bit of information in there?

This could also be one of those "universal" type things as well. I bet more than one company does things like that.

$240 for 6 cans ain't bad no matter how you slice it. But, I'll stick with ADJ products.
Hello - I am very new to this forum. Please forgive me if I am asking ignorant questions.

I have been working with myDMX for a few days and have read a lot of the forum posts and have the following questions:

1) I ran into the dongle not responding issue on day 2. The work around I have found to be working is to not connect the dongle to the computer until AFTER the computer is completely booted, but then DO connect the dongle prior to starting the myDMX software. So far that has worked ok for me.

2) I am trying to play around with the effects generator and selected my first try on the Fusion FX Bar 2. While the profile for that light has 16 channels the effects generator only sees the first 3 led lights (RGB) and the moodflower. But does not know about the remaining LED lights. Has anyone else had this issue? It is nothing important since I am just experimenting. I believe that I have the latest profile for that light which I downloaded from the ADJ site.

3) I have also found the dropbox web page and was looking through the files there. There is a later release of the myDMX software and also the dongle driver. But I was unsure if that is for everyone and if I should download and install them both. I am using a laptop with Windows XP. Please let me know if this is something that I need to install to remain current on software versions.

4) In regard to effects generators. I was wondering if there is an effect that will use a matrix of lights to spell out words. I have a REVO 4 which could be used in 256DMX mode if that is possible or I also have an older Chauvet Scorpan Scan laser that has XY positioning.

5) I have been able to create scenes and use keys on my keyboard to trigger the scenes. But what I would like to be able to do is to trigger a scene and leave it as is, trigger another scene so that the first scene is still active (unless the second scene changes a value on a light from the first scene). A possible method would be to use CTRL-scene to add the next scene without turning off the last scenes. Is this reasonable and is it possible? Otherwise to do a show you have to have every combination of scenes you may ever want in a show. I use this for live performance of a band. As an example - I may want to Red Wash the stage and then add lasers to the House while changing the stage to blue wash but not turn off the lasers then leave the stage blue and change from lasers to revo4, etc.
Please let me know if this capability exists and how to do it if it does.

Thank you so much for any assistance.

new myDMX user
Jim, Welcome to the forums. Let me address your questions. also before I do that. This is the profile request thread so next time please start a new thread as i like to keep all threads on topic. no big deal really just letting you know.

1) Yes this has been said many times on this forum to boot the PC with the dongle unplugged. Thank you for reinforcing it works better this way for all users.

2) The reason this occurs is because the profile creator does not allow for multiple RGB channels in one profile. I have found a work around for this by making a moonflower control profile and you guys the end user just needs to use 4 generic RGB profiles found in the "_generic" folder to get better control of the RGB sections of the fixture. for example: say your Fx bar 2 has a address of one. your gonna want to patch in 4 generic RGB profiles and then the moonflower control profile I have made which can be downloaded here: http://db.tt/5mgexO
That will allow you precise channel for channel control in the EFx generator. any questions about this let me know.

3) Yes you may use that release.

4)Yes you can do this with the REVO 4 in 256 channel mode however you have to set up the fixtures as a matrix. for this simply use the RGBW profile in the generic folder. I am not too sure about using the XY for the laser in the EFX gen.

5) not possible if you want to combine scenes you have to program them that way. There is no sort of "Scene overlap" function in my dmx. for that type of option when programming you will need Compu Live From Elation.
Sincerely,
Jingles

Thank you veru much for your prompt reply. Is there anywhere where I might find out more information about the Effects Generator generating text and Matrix setup of the light. I think I understand what you are saying. If I set the REVO 4 up as a matrix of lights will the effects generator just have a text effect show up or do I have to do something to make the text effect generator available. I have not seen a text generator effect yet but that may be because I do not have anything set up as a matrix - not sure how to set up a matrix yet.

Also for running lights for a band's live performance do you recommend that I switch to elation CompuLive before I spend too much time learning myDMX?

Thanks again
I'm not sure but is it in the manual? But when you patch in a matrix like in this pic.

you can see that you have to assign a numberXnumber i am not sure what this is for the revo 4 in 256 channel mode. I have not had a revo 4 to play with yet. so you will want to see which numbers give you a total of 256 channels. however you will still need to use the Generic RGBW profile for this to work properly. Once you have it patched you go to the editor tab and select the FX button and the FFX gen will show up with a new tab in it called RGB matrix effect. Like in this picture.

Your gonna want to select the RGB matrix effects tab and click the blue plus box to add a layer. when your layer one appears like in the picture where it says type select text and then over to the right you will see the functions of the text effect appear. play around with that.
If you want to move to compu live I would recommend that you look into getting one of our next generation interfaces for our compu Show software. The compu live software was released in 2006 but this year we have a next generation software coming out called Compu Show and aswell as next Gen interfaces called Compu Cue, Compu Show SD and Compu Show SD+.
for questions about compu show please email me at james k at elation lighting dot com.
Sincerely,
Regarding Compu Show and Emulation software (which I saw mentioned in another post) - which is the best route to go in your opinion for live band lighting?

Thank you very much for the info on the matrix - I thought that I had read it somewhere - but I hav become overwhelmed with information and couldn't remember where I had seen it.

Will try tonight and let you know
