I have just got a VMS4 from Zzounds, and unlike many people on here, am actually very happy with it. I do have some occasional problems which I hope will iron themselves out with use. My biggest problem is that only a few days in, ALL the hash marks have rubbed off my channel faders and crossfader. This is not acceptable... I have had a plethora of mixers and controllers throughout the years, and I have never had them wear out for at least a year or two of regular HEAVY use. Also, my channel 4 fader DIED last night mid set. I can overlook that as a bad fader in manufacture, but I rely upon the hash marks to allow me to set my levels accurately. Please help. I have not heard this problem mentioned as yet, and I'm VERY unhappy about this. I'd post a photo, but I can't figure out how.

I think the thing that will stop me from taking advantage of Zzounds 30 DAY RETURN POLICY and swapping for a Traktor Kontrol S4 would be for someone from ADJ to say, "We're very sorry for your trouble, and we stand by our gear, so since you otherwise love the controller Smiler , and would like to give us a shot and keep your VMS, here's your FREE STYLEFLIP SKIN AND SET OF REPLACEMENT FADERS Big Grin ". I could definitely see that as something that would show me in good faith that ADJ looks after their customers in a caring and responsible fashion. In exchange I will post my custom Traktor Pro 2.1 MIDI mappings which took me about 14 HOURS of mapping and cross-referencing. (I'm a Traktor MIDI Wizard, BTW, and these are set up to take advantage of 2 Track Decks, and 2 Sample Decks. I wouldn't have to spend 14 hours with a Kontrol S4, it would be plug and play.) And yes, if any of you are wondering, I was waiting outside my local Guitar Center at about 7:20 AM on the 1st of April waiting for them to open, and happily plonked down the full retail of USD $669.00 to own this AMAZING NEW VERSION Eeker , and I'd strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to really experience the true power of the VMS4.
And no, it's not a piece of shit at all. Let me preface the following by saying I'm sorry for the screaming. IN FACT, FOR ALL OF YOU ON HERE JUST TO FLAME IT, I HAVE BEEN A *PROFESSIONAL* DJ FOR 15 YEARS, AND I HAVE USED EVERYTHING FROM VINYL, TIMECODE VINYL, KEYBOARDS, DJ CONTROLLERS (GOOD AND BAD) EVEN USED A GD'D KEYBOARD AND JOYSTICK FOR A WHILE FOR FUN. I HAVE USED MORE THAN 2 DOZEN DJ MIDI CONTROLLERS OVER THE YEARS AND THERE IS *NOTHING*, I REPEAT, *NOTHING* THAT HAS EVER EVEN COME REMOTELY CLOSE TO THIS FOR LESS THAN USD $1,000, AND USUALLY YOUR FIRSTBORN CHILD AS WELL. STOP COMPLAINING AND LEARN HOW TO USE YOUR FU@*ING SOFTWARE AND PROGRAM YOUR MIDI. I HAD NO PROBLEMS GETTING IT TO DO ANYTHING I WANTED, AND THE FLEXIBILITY OF THIS THING MAKES MY DICK HARD. YOU SHOULD ALL GET A LIFE AND GO BACK TO AN IMIX OR A BCD2000, BETTER YET, IF YOU ARE SO INCOMPETENT, WHY DON'T YOU GO BACK TO THE GOOD OLD FASHIONED *MOUSE AND KEYBOARD* DJING THAT YOU KNOW SO WELL!!! (LEFT CLICK HOLD TO SCRATCH) Razzer
I don't know who that reply is from originally, however, they're wrong, and not a bit wrong but very wrong. If a product is put on the market it should be in a form at which everyone can use. I'm not computer pro, nor am I a pro DJ, but I do know you shouldn't have to fight with a piece of equipment to get it to do the basic things it is design for and sold to do. In fact, by law, AA are in breach of contract, in the UK at least.

Hi buddy, i'd gladly pay for this mapping. Do you have a list of what buttons do what?
I just finished the mapping yesterday. Will create this list and then let you know. I can tell you that ALL functions are enabled. ALL LEDs are functioning. And a few neat little features such as the strips mapped to browse normally (tree left, list right) and when modified with a knob push, they Strip Search just like the feature on the Numark NS7s. All hotcues, loops, and SAMPLE DECKS working. It's shit hot. YOU NEED TRAKTOR 2, or this will NOT work. Let me know if you have traktor 2, we'll get you sorted mate.
VF037050942. I have already received an RA from Zzounds, they are willing to give me a full credit including the shipping I paid. I am very seriously considering swapping it out for something else, but would like the chance to stick with it for a while. I cannot however use it with all the Hash Marks rubbing off so quickly, nor with a FADER BREAKING AFTER 3 DAYS MID-SET. Which no one seemed to notice I mentioned as of yet. I am NOT a bedroom DJ, and this is not a hobby for me. I WORK my faders, and I expect them to work for me. ALL THE TIME. I hope I had a bad fader, and that it won't happen again. (Not so quickly at least) I propose that for me to be able to use this in good faith, I need ADJ to organise a Skin for me so my Hash Marks remain intact, and either arrange an immediate repair at no cost to me of the fader, otherwise, provide me with a spare SET of faders so that I can be assured I will be able to get up and running quickly if this should happen again. Thank you for your assistance. And please refrain from patronizing me by suggesting it might be fader rub. Again, I'm not new to this, it was FINGER rub, not Fader Rub... Please fix this ASAP, as I have gigs in the very near future, and want to see how this performs live. (If I can rely on it, that is.)
I totally agree with you Kid!
It is totally unacceptable that the hash is coming off after 2 use. A styleflip from ADJ might be the "kind" solution, but iam not dreaming. Donno why the painting is such a s*it.
Hope my faders wont have the same problem as yours.
Furthermore i bought it from abroad..so its not an easy thing to validate my guarantee or get back my money..
it seems the paint job on the vms4 isnt that brilliant its something You do come to expect from a mixer if you rehearsed hard on a new peace of gear to get used to it befor gigging it i got mine in december played out my christmas contract on the old gear as it was sleep gig sleep gig you get the picture and recovered in january it went out the first time in feb on the road and within the the first 2 months of giging the hash marks are going and the solver paint across the bottom by the cross fader is going sticky and whareing off just where you rest your hand if anyone has a solution as the skins dont cover that part i would be grateful

Looking forward to see you! :P

PS: Have you tried the VMS4 Traktor yet (a prototype or something)? At mussikmesse 2010 you presented the VMS4 midi controller...
Hello, Mine is VF055807822 i love my VMS4 its 2 months old and have used it less than 8 hour and i cant believe that the marks on the fader are fading away, all of the buttons stop lighting up, only the knobs, Mic and headphone cue lights work.
to use my headphone i have to have the channel 2&3 turned up so i can hear it. I have some other minor problems and i been calling CS But the lines are always busy.
I have the same problem to with my new vms4 midi. I only used it a couple of times (4 times) since i bought it and the hash marks are rubbing off already i will appreciate a feed back on this problem please. And i live in Canada so a response will be greatly appreciated thank very much.
