Lets start with a little about me:
I'm brand new to this fourm, but I have been using AMDJ and elation products for over 14 years. I also run the tech department at a large entertainment lighting company. I maintain over 120 automated fixtures and spec. and install large and complex DMX lighting systems. I also love disco lights and have been doing club and underground events for many years.

I want to continue to use and sell AMDJ products but I have been repeatedly frustrated by them recently.

But enough about me, here is my issue.
I have a DMX DUO recorder and playback device here. The documentation says that you can record show steps each with individual hold and fade times. It also says that when the shows are being played back that the times can be adjusted during playback.

Sounds good right?

Well my experience of using the DMX DUO is that either it does not function as described, or I am simply missing something, which is entirely possible.

There are definitely issues with how it handles times. While recording if you set a speed (hold) time to say 5 seconds, when you press the fade button the display will read 5 seconds. If you change the fade time to say 3 seconds and then press the speed (hold) button it will still display 3 seconds, and visa versa.
It is as if it only has the ability to process one time value, not separate hold and fade values as described. I was told by tech support at AMDJ that is does in fact record separate times but the display does not show it.
That in my opinion is unacceptable, if it can record separate times then why can it not display them, how are you supposed to know what the recorded value is if you can not see it on the display. In any case while programing I found that I was not able to record hold and fade times into each step, I could only record either a hold, or a fade, not both in one step.
I was able to work around this by recording a step with a fade time and then a step with a fade time, then a step with hold, then a step with fade and so on. Thus allowing me to make a sequence with separate hold and fade times.
A work around, but acceptable, until I realized that while playing back the show if the user modifies either speed(hold), or the fade time then all the times in the show are converted to what ever type of time was modified. It becomes all fades or all holds.
This is useless, for creating anything but the simplest of shows and it does not work as stated.

Please tell me that it is just me and this thing does some how work as it should.

Thanks
