Hi All,

I need some advice on an issue I am trying to resolve and would like to know if my idea might work or if there is an easier/ better way to solve it.

1. I have 8 64B LED PRO's and 2 LED Punch PRO's. My problem is that I cannot get the lights to sync up thru DMX Sound Active mode (Every light does its own thing in that mode only). I called tech support and was informed that the lights will sync up during every mode EXCEPT this one. I can get them to do it when I take them off of my OP PRO and use them as a stand alone in master / slave mode. It then works just fine but I lose the ability to control them thru the DMX board.

2. Here is my idea to solve it: I think if I run everything thru a DMX line and address it accordingly; but only to the 1 light that I want to control. Then use a splitter off of the DMX addressed light to the other lights and put them in the slave mode. I am assuming this might allow me to keep control of the master light thru the DMX board and when I put it into sound active the other lights will LED Sync with the controlled light and follow every command sent to the DMX light?

I hope this is not too confusing to follow.

Please let me know what you think of this idea and / or if you have a better way to solve it.

Thanks for your time.

Ric. How's it going? I'm not sure I undersea d your idea. But tell me this what type if splitter are you using? If it us a "Y" splitter for like audio DO NOT USE IT. It may damage your lights and that in no way will provide proper signal strength. I'll reread your first post a few times to see if I can understand it. LOL. Sincerely,
Doesn't work that way.

As Jingles said, don't use a Y-splitter. Why? Because. No seriously though, the signal must be actively repeated or it will fail.

This is what you want to do then:
Program them ALL for the same DMX channels, and then throw them all into sound active mode.

Or else just drop them all into sound active mode.

Tossing a DMX fixture into sound active mode does just what you described: threw EACH fixture into sound active mode and then as a result, each light does it's own response to sound active mode. There is no master sound active mode. If you want control over sound active mode, use the scenes and chases in your Op Pro and then do your own sound active thing. Then you'll have the control you want.

Chances are you're just doing same color changes, right? That's the best way to go. Program your favorite colors, then make some chases that mix it up.

You can't go and do "DMX" and "master/slave", you have to choose one or the other. When in DMX mode, the lights are only listening/acting on DMX signalling. When in master/slave mode, the master is injecting data onto the DMX wire, but it is NOT in DMX format, it is in a somewhat proprietary format(which is why you can't mix non-like fixtures for this application).

Your idea will fail and break for multiple reasons.

You can have a bank in master/slave mode, and a bank in DMX mode(or banks of each), but those two types can NOT cross paths. Don't let your Master/slave cabling(other than power) mix with DMX. You wont break anything, it will just not work at all or work with unpredictable results.
Jingles & Chris,

I do not have a splitter yet, this is just the idea that I have and am open for suggestions. Chris, addressing them all the same and putting them in SA mode will not work (I have tried it many times). When I have done that, then each light does its own SA program and not 1 of them is sync'd. I called tech support on this and found out that the lights will not sync on SA DMX. But they will sync very nicely when on their own in master / slave mode. That being 1 light on SA mode and the rest in slave mode. It works flawlessly. But the down side is that they are not controlled by DMX. I am trying to figure out a way to have them DMX controlled and sync up when put in SA mode thru the DMX controller. I hope that sheds a bit more light on what I am trying to accomplish.

Chris,

I am going to try your idea of programming the scenes and chases. I do need some help though. I have tried to program 2 scenes on my operator pro and failed miserably. How do I delete those 2 scenes and start over? The manual for the Op Pro does not address deleting scenes, only chases and I have tried that to get rid of my junk scenes.

Thanks,
Ric
To delete a scene or chase on the OP Pro, you need to enter record mode, as if you were going to program something new. Select the scene/chase you have already programmed and wish to delete. Then press and hold the same scene/chase button while at the same time, tap the delete key and then release everything at once. If you did it correctly, the screen will tell you to wait a second while it deletes it.
