DJ Scan 250 problems

When I try to control my DJ scan 250 it can't do smooth motions. When I plug the light into a dmx controller and increment any of the 3 dmx channels by one nothing happens for about 10 output values. Then the light will move, but so fast you can't see anything of the in between movement.

Is this how all dj scan 250's are? Since even in the sound activated sequence there arn't any smooth movement. Or is it a firmware or other mechanical problem?

The DJ Scan 250 is an entry level intel. It is a decent fixture and built like a tank, but they had to save money somewhere to keep the costs down, and the stepper motor is one of those places. Unfortunately the sepper motor isn't up to the precision of the Concepts, or MX-(whatevers), but they weren't intended to be. I find with the DJ scans it is most noticible with slower movements. If you use your DJ Scans to perform faster motions they seem to look allott smoother.
