Installed the RevII ypu sent me, but something seems amiss.
MyDMX comands on the panel do not correspond with colorstrip.Have reset colorsrip.IE 4th fader(Blue)changes speed, not color.
Do I need to add Colorstrip RGb to get change color, fade?
Iwould like to have all controlls avaiable to me through MyDMX.
Am doing something wrong?
I understand that. Here is what happening.
Ch 1(icon)4-242 Only Full on ... no ther respnse
Ch 2 (Speed): Nothing,
Ch 3(Speed)72-74 only work
Ch 4(Col Blue): No clor change. erratic behavoir, flashing seq,off
I can send you break down of channels for Colorstrip, but you prob.have it.
Maybe There instructions are wrong????
Ther should 4 channels w/corresponding commands
1 Blackout and Static/Flashing colors
2 Chase Programs
3 RGB Mode
4 Color Fade Mode

Thanks
depends on where the sliders are.
some are randomOn but color isn't what it should be(red=red, blue=blue etc...), some are erractic.
I set up Colorstrip in manual mode(not connected to Mydmx), and everything works fine.
The revII you sent me does not correspond to the Channel summary (per owners manual on page 5),Colorstrip indicated.Have unit set on S dAd
After resetting.
Possible the program is corrupt?
Should this be first in line ? I have it last.
Thanx for your understanding...
Pretty new to both.
I have it DMX mode. Channel 22(S dAd) I have one of these units. 2 Fusion ex scanners, one DMX star Ball, One strobe, one lg60 laser 4 par 64 cans.
Everything works fine. Not too difficult. pretty much drag and drop to set up. Already set up a couple of scenes.
Pretty adapt when it comes to computers.
ok well as i said it cant really be the profile. try moving it to the front of the line cable wise and address wise see if that helps. or try a straight plug from dongle to strip and give it a try. or if you have access to a hardware dmx controller give that a try aswell. are you using proper DMX cable and not Mic cable? are you terminating the last fixture in the line?
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Was away...HAd to skip a channel to make it work. ie,had a light on channel 20-25 had colorstrip on the next channel, had problems, but skipped one channel to 27 and everything was fine.
Have accu cables, dmx terminator FYI, also, have a DMX board, when I hooked colorstrip up worked just fine.
Don't know why skipping a channel worked, possible interference of some sort?
Again, Thank You for all you help.Being a newbie and all. It was much appreciated.
I have Colorstrip RGB. Already DL the new profiles update.
Not sure how to use color magr/efx gen. along w/matrix,that was my orig. question.
Can I make a profile using both the clorstrip RGBprofile as awell as adding the Colorstrip RevI? actual need is The function of 4 channels in Colorstrip REV.I and the Function of profile Colorstrip RGB,all togther as one profile.
So I should end up with 4 cahneels from REV.I plus 3 from RGB. Total of seven. I bekieve.
Does this make any sense to you? looking for cntrolling not only RGB mixing but Speed, chase, sound, program.
Thanks
that wont work. cause you would be adding channels that dont exist. if the light is 4 channels then you only have four to use. and the combined profile is the REV I profile i sent ya. sorry but its gonna have to be one or the other. the software cant have sub-values the way chauvet intended when they wrote the programming for the colorstrip.
now about finding the effects manager and color manager. once your in EDIT mode look to the left and youll see 3 buttons in the lower half of the software. one has FX and one will have 3 circles one red one green one blue. the one on top is the color manager the one on the bottom is the fx manager. all this is covered in the MY DMX manual on pages 21-24. i know you dont read manuals but ya got to start! haha
Sincerely,
Oh Well I tried. I understand now.
However, when I go to efx editor as you explain, ther is only 1(one)choice under advanced effects. That is Blue. Chosing REV.I or The one you sent me REV II,you describe 3 buttons? Am I missing something? BTW, is that your voice in utube vid?
That would be great.(on the pics)
There are 2 RGB profiles listed, I believe I have the correct one.I am going to delete the one that doesn't work, too confusing. So now there are a total of 4 proviles(w/ur version)Each one does something a bit different? The set up are different.
Shouldn't there only be one profile for each fixture?and work exactly as the manuel states?
Thanks again for all your insight, I have learned much about Mydmx and dmx period.
No there are only 2 profiles for the colorstrip. one for strictly RGB mode. and the other for all the rest of the functions. in theory there SHOULD be just one profile per mode of the fixture or any type programming done to the fixture that allows it to take up more or less channels. But the color strip is unique in the way that it has sub channel values which can require and separate profile to make them work good for you guys the end users. and the REV I profile works exactly as the manual states it just cannot be recognized by the FX generator or color managers. that is a software rather than hardware issue that is currently being worked on. What do you want pics of again?
Sincerely,
I Happy to see you folks working on it.
As far as the pics, you mentioned in ur previous post" For fx ten to work right you would have to use the rgb mode profile. I can post up pics later if you need me too." I fig it was about the fx generator.
Untill you guys resolve the software issue, I am going to use my analog dmx mixer. It allows me to use all of the fuctins on the colorstrip.
Ofcourse I still, will use Mydmx for all my other fixtures.
1 other item I have a fusionscan 250ex that's not working correctly, light is dim, and the program is out of sync, how do I go about getting it repaired,Still under warranty
Thanx
Yes...Please post pics, I will in the future try colorstrip on mydmx again. I really like the program, Untill I get use to the ColorStrip's different modes, I have better controll with the analog controller.
Especially, once you guys correct the software issue, which I hope is soon, then things will be perfect.
Thankx for all your help and support on this issue. You are exceptional and your job.
Thanks CDJ. ok here are 4 pics. from start to finish on the FX gen.

this first one you see allows you to select all or a few fixtures in your DMX universe. this is a great feature cause you can select every other fixture in the line if you wish.

in the second pic you see the window come up with some tabs and a couple buttons on the top. well first select a tab either advanced, Color mixing, or gradient. on the advanced tab you see the list of all the channels that are used in the fixtures you selected. to activate a channel simply click on the red circle button and it will turn green. from there to adjust the effect for the channel you powered on if you see where it says constant level, click the arrow to the right side of that and you will have several choices, such as triangle, sinus wave, square, etc.
now on to color mixing.

Now once you click on the color mixing tab turn the red power light on so that way it is green like in the pic. From there make sure your shutter channels are open on your fixture as well, now click on any of the options you see below such as knight rider, rainbow. if you look to the right you see a number, size, and speed knobs. if you hit the paint pallette if will show you that window that you see with red and black. from there you can adjust the colors that will be used in your effects. you cna even create your own custom colors. and if you adjust the number it will allow you to adjust the number of colors you wish to include. once you have all your colors click OK.

now you have your sequence done and you like how it looks. You have to generate it. you can generate it by clicking on the gear button that i have highlighted on the pic above. once it is all generated you notice on the right hand side of your screen that there is a series of steps in the step window. and thats where the stuff you make form FX gen is stored. you ca even go over to those steps and modify them individually.
Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Hey guys. Just some tips and a question on the colorstrip. I tried to use them for front washes for my band but even putting two on each side of the stage they just didn't do the job. Howver, when I hung them off the truss in the back vertically they performed awesome. Felt like I was on a KISS stage!!

Also, has there been a new profile done on the colorstrip in the past few months. If you remember I was the first one that asked for one to be made many months ago. Would love to have a profile of the colorstrip that showed in the visualizer the same thing the strip acutally does. To program it now I have to bring in a colorstrip and connect it so I know what its going to do. If there is a newer profile please email it to me. Like I said, I have the first one you sent me.

Thanks
Chuck
one more thing. Is it possible to change the size of the font or the size of the box when running the show. Not enough room to write something like (rear lights only with blue spot). Gets a little confusing looking at all the scenes. Would be helpful to place them in columns or having bigger (I guess icons)to look at. Or even.....different colors.

I hope this makes sense.
