OK, two things I've learned today, I think. I'm not sure.
1: moving fixtures around in MyDMX in the set-up tab, it APPEARS your pre-done settings will follow the fixture where-ever you move it. Way cool. I can deal with that load of fun stuff. Good, especially if you're adding fixtures or just moving things around. I haven't full realized this so don't take me to the wall on it.
2: I've discovered I made some slight ERRORS to a profile. ALSO, the ADJ distribution of the same profiles are also FLAWED, but in a different way. So, I've since corrected them. Now, the question is "Gee, which one is the software looking at?", and my answer is "hell if I know". I know I store my customized profiles in a safe location, but I thought I moved my copy into the appropriate folder.
To ensure, I moved the "ADJ supplied" profile to an inacessible location, and moved a copy of mine to the proper location, assuming MyDMX would pull in the profile it just saw upon restart of MyDMX. Nope. It's almost as if it hard-codes the profile into the universe, which would be poor design. They should be loaded into memory or swap when the the show file is loaded.
Nope.
Ain't gonna stop me from getting the job done, but it would be easier if I did the work right in the first place. Short of that, it would be nice if MyDMX would read the profile I'm using.
Also, the "export patch" file I thought was pointing me in the right direction but didn't.
Enough whining. Whining ain't gonna get the job done. If my changes aren't massive for thos fixtures, I'm just going to redo those fixtures to be "safe". I don't think my applications are heavy duty.
