I'm sorry if this post is long. I have been migrating my Mydmx3 show file over to mydmx 5 and have been at it for over 100 hours and 1/2 of that was dealing with terrible ssl2 files and adding 22 new moving heads to the rig.

Request #1: I'm using a Mac Studio with a 34" screen and it sucks that the Touch Tab screen is designed for the resolution of tablets only. I think it would be nice to be able to have an option to use tablet resolution or have a second tab for Monitors. When I go full screen the Touch tab ignores half the screen. and if i zoom in the buttons are way to large

Request #2: Can they possibly make the fixtures index based? Im finding a lot the fixture profiles are poorly created for some lights and half way thru programing my show file I migrated from mydmx 3 there was a few issues with a fixture profile and i had to download a new one and then had to redo all of the settings in every scene that used those fixture profiles. Or when I add more fixtures or replace with newer versions to my setup and whant all the fixtures in dmx order you can't do that without having your patch schedule look like a 3rd grader patched it with gaps and all of the same model fixtures  on 2-3 different universes. Even if it just kept the values when replacing a fixture. Pan and tilt channels are pretty much the first 4 channels of most fixtures and with my lighting rig setting positions is the most time consuming.

Request #3: Add a option for a few rate/speed masters when doing a bunch of banks of  movements, dimmer Fx, chases it would be nice to be able to have say 5-10 Rate masters so you can assign everything in that bank to the same speed fader/encoder. I have to map 20+ scene speeds to the same fader and it's time consuming and if you could assign all your movements in one bank to say rate master 1 and all your dimmer fx to rate master 2 and so on....  it would be so much less work and easier. or just have a Bank master speed fader.

Request #4: its hard to tell when you are in Live mode or edit mode based on the little green edit indicator. could they make all the scenes slowly blink the outline or have the background change color or something more prominent than just a little green edit button at the bottom of the screen. I've found myself live adjusting a bunch of settings only to look down and find I've been in edit mode for who knows how long and have to go back and undo or close and open the last saved show file and redo some things.

Request #5: It would be nice to have a selected parameters only settings for each bank. Maybe have a window below the Advanced properties section that has check boxes next to the attributes you want to store in that bank? for example when I'm programming colors all i want to be able to add to each scene is colors and when I'm programing positions i only want pan and tilt and focus values. It would be great to be able to select only the values that the bank will save to the scenes. When I'm programing positions and I want the dimmers and shutters on i either have to exit out of edit mode and go turn on the shutters and dimmers then go back into edit mode so I can see where I'm pointing the lights. and sometimes when I'm setting positions on 30+ moving heads i want to dim other moving heads to see the beam to adjust the focus without turning on the shutter channel or dimmer channel in that scene and when I'm setting colors some of the ssl2 files don't have icons for the split colors only a fader to scroll thru them so i have to see what colors are at what slider value.

Your feedback is detailed and incredibly constructive - it's clear you've spent significant time working with the software and identifying areas for improvement. Here’s a quick breakdown of your suggestions:

  1. Touch Tab Resolution: A customizable resolution for larger screens or monitor-specific layouts would definitely enhance usability for those using high-resolution displays. This is a much-needed feature.

  2. Fixture Indexing: Making fixtures index-based would be a game-changer for efficiency, especially when replacing or reordering fixtures. Keeping programmed values intact during changes would save users countless hours.

  3. Rate/Speed Masters: The idea of multiple rate masters is fantastic! It would simplify managing multiple banks with similar effects and streamline the workflow for complex shows.

  4. Edit vs. Live Mode Clarity: A more noticeable visual indicator, like a blinking outline or background color change, would prevent accidental edits and improve the user experience.

  5. Selective Parameter Saving: The ability to store only specific attributes for each bank would bring precision and flexibility to programming. This would be particularly helpful for larger rigs with specific programming needs like yours.

Thank you for sharing these insights - here’s hoping the developers take note and incorporate these improvements in future updates! 👏
