I dj on a dance party boat every friday night.
The boat holds 200 people, It has 2 decks, the bottom deck is the dancing deck which can fit about 60 people.
This is the sound system i use on there.
2x apx power pros
2x 18 inch sub woofers
1x amplifier (not sure of rating)

As you all know the power pros have there own amplifiers so it is the 18 inch subwoofers running into the amplifier.
Now the power pros are running into the amp so that the same music comes through the sub woofers, and the amp is running into the mixer.
On my mixer i turn the master up to full and sometiimes i have to have the channel slider up on full to. I dont understand why this is happening, i have 4 speakers and i would think that it would be alot louder.
This is starting to frustrate me cause i dont understand why it is so quite.
If you can, can you please help
thanks

you say that both your mains and your subs have their own amps, you do not need the 1x amp, sounds like you are canceling the signal, try going to the apx and subs with rca from the mixer, send signal to the subs with rca from the mixer if your mixer only have one output, use y cables to get the signal to both the mains and subs but pull the amp out of the system.

Ok Zhem you are confused about DJ-X's post. He has two full range powered speakers. For bass he has two 18" woofers which are not powered and require an external amplifier.

Now D-J-X it would help if I had a few pieces of information in order to help you better such as:

-what type of amp and model are you using?
-what is the power rating on the amp?
-whatkinds of 18's are you using and their power rating?
-Is the bottom deck of the boat enclosed or is it open?

Now without knowing any of this to start with. I will tell you a few things. You said that you have to push your master volume as well as your channel volume to the max sometimes. By doing this you are clipping the signal which causes distortion which can cause an amplifier (depending on the one you have) to heat up and reduce the input signal to a safe level. If your meters are hitting the red on your mixer then you should turn it down.

Another question is what isnt loud enough??
Is it the BASS or is it the 2 POWERED CABINETS ??

If it is the BASS then your amplifier may not be powerful enough to drive the 2 speakers and if are not using an "ACTIVE" cross-over between your mixer and amplifier then you are probably losing a significant amount of power if the cabinets for your 18's have a passive cross over inside.

If it is the powered cabinets then mabe the cabinets are not adequate for what you are doing and you should replace them.

If the bottom deck is not enclosed then you lose some of the volume you might be expecting since the sound waves will be traveling out to the high seas.

This is just what I can assume might be wrong...please answer the question I posted above so I can better help you out.
please excuse my rant but, to get the most from your system then you need to wire it with the following...
mixer to graphic, graphic to electronic crossover, output on the high/lows to the smaller amp... then the lows out of the crossover, to a higher wattage amp to the subs... crank and enjoy .. have done this so many times i lost count...
enjoy...
