Hello. PLEASE HELP!!! I am new to this. I am a high school activities director. We spent $1500 on a DJ and lights for our last rally and more on the DJ/lights for our last dance.

I think it makes sense for us to just buy our own lights and save money over time. We can add lights over the next couple of years to make a great setup, but I don't know where to start. We have a budget of around $2500 for lights , stands, controllers, etc.

I want lights that will work for our rallies and that can be used at our dances to compliment basic DJ lights. Our gym does have windows so it doesn't get really dark with the lights out so they do need to be bright.

We are limited on power so LED lights are appealing.

Needs -
I want lights that can be used as spotlights on the MCs and on performers at rallies but that can also be used for dances.

I want lights that are versatile, easy to use, are sound activated (but can be controlled),and that are durable/reliable.

It is hard to really tell how lights will look from the videos. Many of them start to look the same after a while.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bryan

I figured we would get some T bars (lights on both sides of the gym) to start so not very high on the gym floor for rallies.

What I thought would make the mos sense is 4 T bars. One on either side of the gym with lights to spotlight the performes and MCs in te middle of the gym floor and two T bars with lights pointed towards the bleachers for effects. This is just an idea so any reccomendations would be appreciated.

I work in a two story all indoor school. We have a great central quad that is perfect for dances. It has an upstairs area where we have the DJ that overlooks the dance floor. Our last DJ had many lights upstairs pointed down on the dance floor and about 16 64B LED Pros on the around the dance floor (on the first floor) as uplights.

Many lights have caught my eye.

38, 46, and 64B LED Pros
PROPAR 56 RGB
Nucleus LED
Sunray Tri LED DMX
Vertigo Tri LED
Galaxian Sky Laser
Galaxian
Galaxian 3D
Jellyfish
H2O LED
AccuScan or AccuRoller 250 system (What's the difference?)
DJSpot 250 system
XMove LED Plus
Vizi LED Spot

The lighting effects just start look the same when I watch a lot of the videos. I am not sure if I should get a couple intelligent lights first or add them last. My goal to start is to have enough for a great light show for our rallies so we no longer need to hire a DJ for them, and also to have good lights to use for our dances so we do not need to spend as much on the DJ for ou dances. I really don't know where to start. I will also need long cables and controllers.

Fog makes the lights looks great, but we have sensitive fire alarms at the school. Any reccomendations there?

Basically, I want suggestions on what will give me the most bang/versatility for the buck to start for less than $2500 with some recommendations for future additions over the next couple of years.

It would help if the items are durable, reliable, and easy to use since I do work with high school students.

Thanks,
Bryan
