Friday May 27, 2011, I was asked if I wanted to update Virtual DJ 7.0.4.0 and I clicked yes. I quickly noticed the mapping of my VMS4 was changed as I attempted to browse my folders and songs with the rotary knobs as mapped from the time of purchased. The custom four deck mapping was also gone from my mapping folder. The previous version of Virtual DJ 7.0.2 was removed at the time of the update. I contacted Virtual DJ who stated they do not change the mapping when sending an update. After proving this twice, by removing Virtual DJ from the computer, with all files and folders, re installing VDJ 6.0 as came with the VMS4, and updating firmware, again, I was back to normal, but without my custom mapping. Virtual DJ replied a second time stating that American Audio asked for a mapping change. I remapped my VMS4 using a four deck skin and as I was testing the system the mapping for the rotary knobs in the effects section, changed "as I was using them". I contacted the support team at American Audio and upon testing could not get it to change at its will. Three more days of testing and all seemed well. I moved my rig to a large venue for testing of two new amplifiers and when starting Virtual DJ 7.0.4.0 the mapping was completely changed. Please note that previously all maps other then the one I was using was deleted from the mapping folder. Now the American Audio VMS-4 default map appears in the drop-down list in the Config, Setting, Mapping tab.
The VMS4 became very buggy at this time. I moved the rig back to the studio and started it back up without any problems. Go figure. a short time later bug appeared again. I am looking for any help from the DJ community as Several communications with Virtual DJ, two calls into American Audio and two unanswered emails to American Audio have been fruitless. I would like to add that my backup computer was not updated and is working as it has the past eight months. nor am I asked to update the laptop. I do feel the problems are associated with the update, and I deem the VMS-4 as it is with the 7.0.4.0 update, un-gig-able. Please help.

unfortunately, i can't comment on VDJ (i'm using traktor), so the most interesting thing would be to see if we have more users here in the vms board that updated?

regarding your unanswered mails: you can send them to me and i will investigate internally. send the initial mails to: freshfluke AT freshfluke DOT de
