Pocket Scan

Trying to get two new pocket scans to work.
Able to get the first unit to do stand alone and then Master/Slave.
Second unit when plugged in does a few grunts and groans however no LCD indicator comes on and unit stops all functions. Is it likely the second unit is faulty ? Havent tried
