ok....by now.... i know u guys are sick of me and my ohms this and ohms that questions......but seriously.....i have come across another ohms related problem and need help......so please help me out....is there an instrument that can read how many ohms a speaker has/rated at??......i've asked the guy at radioshack but he said he doesnt know....like what the_____??....so where else better to go than to ask the world of dj's/techdudes/circuit board magicians/ampheads/scratchfannaticks/crackheads aahh u know what i mean........ lol....ok......that was the first thing i did....pulled it out and took a look(it only has the wattage..no ohms)........did everything possible....ive even contacted the manufacturer....manufacturer says individual woofers are 8ohms(making 4ohms a cabinent) but since the woofers were replaced by recent owner to handle more power i wouldnt have a clue....just that theres one woofer thats moves more than the other 3...so im guessin its not the same as the other 3, although have the same watts printed on the magnet....so for one, im lookin for the ohms, and then maybe figure this thing out....cause whichever channel i put the cabinent with the different woofer in it....it always blinks red....but thanx for ur seggestion Dj_Jess....
lol, okay go to the local home building centre (Hardware in Sears, or the Home Depot), and look for a Analog Multimeter(or ohm meter). You can set it to test the resistance (measured in ohms) of speakers. If you test your whole speaker cab it might not give u a accurate readings so pull out each sub and measure it individually. Then see if its hooked up in series or parallel, if its in series then add up the resistance of all the speakers and you get your total resistance of whole cab. If it's in parallel, add up the resistance of all the subs, and divide it by how many subs you have, and you'll get the total. You can also figure out the resistance without a Ohm meter by dividing voltage by current (amperes)If your know them.
