I upgraded from the vms2

that should not make any difference. by following the setup wizard and choosing the vms4 traktor will put all settings right.

Could it be the Firmware..

while checking that is never a bad idea, i doubt that it is it. anyways, in doubt check what firmware you have (you can tell that by the LEDs that light up on startup. see manual for more info)

having problems posting screen shots. any advice on posting pics?

unfortunately, the forum software doesnt allow for this, so you would need any 3rd party picture service or storage service (e.g. mediafire).
thanks mr. freshfluke I found the info . I am using firmware 3.11 I still have no sound out of the mics or headphones I have all 4 channels out from the traktor software . the headphones output on the traktor screen is unresponsive also is there midi mapping necessary for the headphones to work ? sorry for all the questions im new to the vms4 ... thanks for the help .... I don't see the point in starting a new thread to ask the same questions, sorry for highjacking yours Razzer
I'm curious to know if there is a fix for this?

I picked up a used VMS4(older model, I think) a little over a week ago, and have finally gotten (almost) everything working. Following these threads, and the ones over on the NI boards has been very helpful and I've gotten a lot of the problems I was having worked out - I cannot for the life of me get my headphone cueing to work properly. I don't have a mic, so I'm not sure about that. I've followed all the advice I have found and the best I can get is a buzz in the left ear, and very, very, low volume in the right - that's actually an improvement from where I started.

Samsung RV511, Intel I3 - 8gb RAM
Asio 1.20 - Frimware 3.11
Traktor Scratch Pro - 2.62

All my settings are the same as I've seen advised- 8 out, all analog, etc. Can post a screen shot if need be.
I am just curious as to what my options are, I like this unit and with the mappings I found it could be really good - if I had working headphone moniters..
Thanks for all the help I have already gotten through reading the forums, and thanks in advance for any advice you all can give Smiler
Yes, the cue button lights up but all I get from the headphones is a whine/buzz in the left, and super low volume in the right. The sound I do get is so low that I can't hear it while the music is coming through my normal speakers.

All decks play, while the sound isn't the best I've heard, it's sound. All volume faders work for their respective decks - pretty much everything works just fine, except the headphones.

I think it's a problem with the controller, to be honest. I am the third owner, that I know of, so this thing has seen some use. It's got a bad tempo fader, and a couple other parts that need replacing - I'm just curious if these are things I could potentially fix myself, and would it be worth it?

hm, and that's for every channel the same?

as long as you dont overdrive the vms4, it's still ok sounding, IMHO, but the sound of the progressor vms4.1 has been significally improved.

hm, ok. that's not good.

at this point i think you may be right, especially if there are already some hardware parts damaged... :-S

depends on how much of a tool/crafty person you are Smiler the hardware parts are available in the hardware parts store.

i would nevertheless recommend to contact ADJ support, i'm sure they can be also of assistance.
Yep, same for all channels. It's cool, I have been in contact with ADJ support and I believe it may just be the headphone jack itself Razzer
I removed it, and disconnected my touch strips, which were also giving me problems. I do plan to order some new parts for it when I can afford to, in the meantime it's still fun to play with!

I also figured out that the buzz/whining I was getting through my speakers was from the power adapter. Using only the USB cable seems to be working well, and it actually sounds pretty decent on my little setup Smiler

Once again, thank you for all your help, DJ Freshfluke - you're awesome!

google: ground hum (and how to avoid/remove) - this should give you a lot of info regarding that!
