I am trying to decide if I should purchase the MyDMX 2.0 Hardware/Software pack. I can get it at a great price. But with all the issues I am reading about I just need direction. I have 8 par 64 fixtures and 8 Mini Led/3channel fixtures. I am a kids pastor and I will need to train older students (6th graders) to run the program. Is this program going to work or give me a headache? Need honest advice.

I'd recommend using version one. You can probably get it cheaper. Chauvet has a similar software. ArtNet is another option that is free and you can usually find the hardware for 50 Dollars or less. Martin has created a software that will work with nearly all dongles. My advice is to steer clear of MyDMX2 at all costs. It is a big headache to try and work through as an amateur.
Because you say "color changes", I would recommend using Lumidesk over MyDMX 1 or 2. Color changes tells me you are doing things on stage. And while starting out that seems simple, you will definitely grow. MyDMX does not have much growing room as far as features and flexibility for programming and triggering.
