I apoligize if this is a bit long winded, its really late and I'm tired and I need a little bit of help.

I am the lighting designer of a startup church, most of my experience is in technical theatre back in the late 80's. We rent our current facility, but we hope to be into something permanent in 9 months.

The house system is a 24 channel analog w/ (6) 6x9's, (12) fresnels, & (5) 3-color strips; we have connected our dmx board (stage setter 16) to the house system w/ the multi-data pak. Additionally we have (8) par 38's & (4) par 56's being dimmed by (2) dmx20's.

In the next 2 weeks we will be adding (4) 6x12's and (4) Opti-Pars and several more dmx20's. And by the end of the year we hope to add (4) Accu-Spot 250's and (4) Rainbow 250's.

Originally we were looking at the DMX Operator Pro, however, it only controls has 8 channels for non-intelligent gear. Short of using 2 boards for our setup, is there a board that can control all of this? And can it cost less than $1000 or so?

Also, we plan to you the Accu-Spots for following the pastor around the stage, would the accu-spots hold up to this? We have considered a follow-spot, but for now there is no ideal setup location for one. Can the colors be swapped out of the Rainbow and Accuspots? Can the gobo's be swapped out?

My ultimate plan is to have (8) Accu-Spots, (8) Rainbow 250's, (8) Concept: Color's, (1) Fog Storm 1200HD & (4) Concepts; 116 DMX channels total.

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks!

You could still use the Operator Pro. If you put the cans the other (intel) side, you just loose the master fader. You could put 16 regular par cans in each of the 8 intel groups. You have 8 faders with a shift button for the second 8. If you are programming scenes it would work well since you probably wont need to do too much fine adjustment to brightness since you are in the same building w/ static locations.
You might be better off with the Show Designer-2. You can program moving light chases and conventional light chases then play them back at the same time. The SD2 allows for up to 8 chases to be played back at a time. In addition, the Show Designer-2 allows for control of up to 48 individual fixtures, each consisting of up to 32 channels. Therefore, you would be able to control each fixture independently- including the fixtures you'd like to add in the future.
