Hi folks. I'm trying to set up a mirror ball for my dance/party room at my house. Room is medium about 25'x25'. I'm planning on a 12" mirror ball with 3 or 4 lights.

My question is....

Instead of color 150's or such spots, is there an equivalent LED that will do the job? I like the low power and long bulb life. I just can't figure out what would work with LEDs. What LED would give a similar beam as a typical spot? Can LEDs be focused to allow for flexibility in mounting distance? Would a moonflower type be the way to go?

Suggestions?

ADJ make a Par36 LED pinspot type fixture.

Narrow beam works great. DMX fixture, color mixing.

As far as mounting distance, how far away you need to be? I really haven't tried stretching my Par36's(regular type) that far. From what I can see, there is no focusing, so just point and shoot.

Get an inexpensive DMX controller and you're good to go.

But, to save money, you might go wiht regular Par36's, and some hard gel lenses or gel sheets. Lot cheaper. Depends on how you wnat to use this stuff.

I'd say, mirror ball in center of room, no light is more than 12 feet away from the mirror ball. Put a par 36 in each corner gel'ed or colored differently and that should be pretty cool. LED or regular.
i own a p36 led and it is great. max distance before you begin to lose light output i would say no more than 20 feet if that. i dunno i wil have to play with it. and with the led cans u can gel them with like a diffusion gel or frost if u want but that will also shorten your output. anything else let me know. peace! jingles.
