Inno Spot Base Very Hot

After a night of using my Inno Spots, one of the light's bases got very hot. Never had this issue before in several years of use. Any ideas what was causing this? I did have a cord that went bad and now used a different cord as a replacement. I also have it attached to an extension cord. Bad extension cord, wrong size/specs in replacement cord? Bad cord connection issue?
