How do I set the IR Function on my ADJ POCKET Pros.

I have down loaded the app onto my iPhone. I have the IR Transmitter plugged all the way in to the headphone jack. I have the volume up full and nothing is happening. Is there a setting on the Pocket Pro that I need to use? Any ideas on this will be most welcome.
