Hello out there!?!?

In the past I have used Crank systems that have a much larger guage steel, thus higher tollerance for weight, and generaly set up much higher then 9'. Well, in my present days the equipment I am using is not "top notch", but deffinately does the trick. My truss is a general 10' long, and 9' high, I am using two DJ Scans and Two DJ Scan/RGs. I need to know the best possible placement for these lights, I'm sorta lost!?!? Last weekend was the first weekend that I used these lights & truss, and they ended up all over the floor behind me (not projecting outward). They were also at their max angle. Any suggestions? Please reply with open opinions as well, I need critisism!

Ok, I take it your truss is the 10 span held up by 2 tripod stands. Am I right? And I think I know what your problem is but not sure. I will say some stuff anyway, let me know if it helps at all.
First off you need to make sure you have the stand legs spread out far enough to make a good base.
Then when you hang the lights, you need to space them evenly over the span. You also need to make sure they are balanced with in reason. Hold the light fixture loosely in your hand by the bracket. The angle it hangs by in your hand naturally will be the angle where its balanced with all its weight going straight down. At any other orientation at witch it requires force to keep it there is not balanced.
When you hang multiple fixtures that are not balanced and they are all not balanced in the same direction, gravity puts a forward or aft force on the truss. To keep the truss upright, most of the weight from the lights needs to be below it and not to the front or back.
Some lights have different points at witch you can mount to hanging bracket to fix this problem, but the DJ Scans are stuck with only one.
Now with that said, even with 4 DJ scans on there and all the weight of them forward, I dont think that your truss system should have fallen, thats if your truss system is what I think it is.
Thanks Bump,

I did not realise that I made it sound like my lights came tumbling down...Pretty crazy. What I meant is that "light beams" where all over the floor behind me, and not out on the dance floor. Also, what is the best way to focus these lights before you raise them up? Do you know of any whay to rig the lights so that they project more forward then downward?
I was thinking I might either put all four intells on the 10' section, along with two black widows on the "T" bars (one on each) crossing eachother, and my fog machine? Not to sure what to do with my FOG??? Suggestions please!

Or maby two intells (regular DJ scans) on the truss, then two intells (DJ scan/RGs) on the "T" Bars (one on each) crossing eachother, two black widows on the truss, and my fog set up to move crossing all lights (direction of air flow)??? Suggestions please!

I know I could use some par cans and maby a disco ball but for now the above mentioned hardware is all I have.

Hook A Brotha' Up!!
