I have two of the following lights:

American DJ Eco UV Bar Plus IR

I would like to daisy chain them together and program them to gradually get brighter to full brightness and then back down to completely dim on a loop.

I’m not sure if this is possible, however, because I believe this model is not the DMX version. Is there anyway that it’s possible to create this set up with these particular lights? Do I need some kind of external control unit or other hardware?

Thanks so much for any suggestions or help in advance!

Thank you so much for this explanation! That is kind of what I suspected.

Well, if I’m going to invest in some DMX lights and a controller to do the fade in/fade out on a loop… Does anyone have a recommendation of which controller might be most economical and simplest for a newbie like myself?

I see they have an app controlled version with an iPad, is that a good idea? Any suggestions are very welcome.

Thanks again, everybody!

Hi, I would say the easiest one without needing an ipad but something you only have to hook up to a computer once or twice to send it profiles or back up your work is the ADJ WMX1 or WMX1 MKII.
The MyDMX 2.0 GO ipad controller doesn't really have a dimmer effects in it, it is mainly for color mixing which the Eco bars are only UV and the GO app doesn't support UV color mixing natively. but the WMX1 does and it also has a dimmer effects section.
Otherwise there are the various MyDMX 2.0 USb and computer powered devices, like the Buddy or the 3.0 hardware and then you'd need to have a computer handy to program it and run it.
Hope this helps.

Hello again! I am still working on this project, and I've acquired the following gear:

myDMX 5 Express
ECO UV Bar DMX

I have successfully hooked up the light through the controller to my MacBook and I can now turn it on/off with the myDMX 5 software. Minor success!

However, I have no clue how to create a scene(?) bank(?) super scene(?) to achieve the effect I want. Any help would be much appreciated.

All I want to do is have the ECO UV Bar DMX gradually fade on, then stay on for around 30 seconds, then fade back out, and stay off for around 30 seconds. I want to play that sequence on a loop.

Finally, I'd like to send that program to the myDMX 5 Express unit standalone so I can mount the light with the control only and take my laptop elsewhere.

Thanks for any advice!

Hi, when you make a new scene, there is a column on the right side where it gives you square buttons with "Steps" Color FX" Chaser FX" Etc. Click on the steps one and then if the play button in the upper right corner of the column on the right is green, click it to turn it off, then you will see Step 1 turns grey and from there you can start moving the fader for dimmer and then create new steps by clicking. the plus button towards the bottom right of the column. Then just double click the "00" section of the time for seconds, and you'll see the mouse maybe change icons to up and down arrows, use that to drag up or down to increase the time or decrease the. time of the step, do this for fade and wait.
Do you want a short video? Or can you go off of description alone? Screenshot attached.

Thanks to your help, Jingles8302!

Here's what I've been able to do, in case it helps anyone else (see attached screenshots)

I have successfully created a scene with 2 steps (dimmer at 0% and 100%) that fades in/out using "Wait time" and "Fade time" under "Contents" and also using "Fade in" + "Fade out" under Properties. Finally, under "Advanced Properties" I used the default "Loop" option to keep the scene playing indefinitely.

I was also able to send the scene to the myDMX 5 Express through Tools > Stand Alone. And, using Mapping > Map Ports, I was able to program the physical "Next" (light) button on the myDMX 5 Express to trigger the scene without my laptop connected (although I learned that I need to plug the myDMX 5 Express into power via the USB-c port). It works!

I have two new questions

1. Is there a way to turn off the scene directly from the myDMX 5 Express other than unplugging the USB-c cable?
While the scene is playing, nothing happens when I press the "Next" (light) button on the myDMX 5 Express. The only way I've figure out how to cancel the scene is to unplug the USB-c power from the myDMX 5 Express.

2. Is the myDMX 5 Express compatible with "Time triggering"?
I see this option mentioned in the ADJ MyDMX5 Manual, where you can apparently program a day/date/time schedule for the standalone scene to start. However, when I right-click the scent in the Standalone configuration window and choose "Time trigger" nothing happens.

Thanks again for your help! I simply would not have been able to do this without your guidance.
