well, I can list some of that. But I do have questions since it has cost me quite a bit of money.

OK, dimmer packs and power packs are easy. Dimmer packs vary the amount of voltage per channel, allowing lights to come up and down, rather than being on/off. Great for par cans and can-style lights.

Power packs are simply on/off devices with a pre-determined DMX value threshhold. Once the threshhold is breached, the outlet(s) are either full ON or darn full off(there is still some voltage hanging out, like maybe 7 volts).

So, what's a switching pack and what's a relay pack? I am buying some new packs soon and I need to know, although two of the new packs I will be buying are going to be dimmer packs(have 3 already), 2 will be power packs(have 2 already).

The Aviator SP-8 is said to be a switching pack. OK, so what does that mean? On/off at threshhold and then dimming ABOVE threshhold to max?
What is relay mean?

Maybe I'll get the time to dink around with some of my lights. Today I go out researching halogen floods to replace the traditional outdoor floods in my Par 38's. It appears the Halogens will put out MORE light at less voltage, which is a darn good thing when I have 28 Par 38's and am looking to get some 46's, 56's and 64's( 8 of each). Endorsements? I work high profile events!!!

When I get time, I'll tweak with my Aviator SP-8 again. Until I convert some stuff to something more higher end and go to rack-mount dimmers and truss-installed conduit and cabling. I sure could use some 8-channel truss-hangable(like the DMX-DP20L or whatever, just 8 channel). I take the back-plate off right after delivery, flip it around and then it can be hung right off the truss.
