I noticed that whenever I match the BMP on my cdi-300's one would go off beat. For example, if I get them both on 120bmp, one would drop to 88, or 112. I tried different CD's and it's giving me the same readout.

Is this a cdi fault, or what could be causing the bmp to go off beat?

Any help would be kindly appreciated.

If you are talking about the BPM counters. BPM counters are only a tool to help, they should never be counted on as the end all be all accurate measure. That should be your ears. Calculating BPM's in a CD players is a very complex algorythm. Unfortunately when it reads ahead your BPM reading may fluctuate, especially on complex drum patterns or bass lines that change often during a song.
I do use my ears, and actually it's easier than counting the BMP's. However, let's say for example if I have two songs,, and I have them on beat by ear, the BMP start to fluctuate and it trwos it off beat and I have to readjust the beats again.

In some cases, I have the same song on both cd players and the beats would vary from each other. I'm starting to wonder if my CDi might be malfunctioning?
