Maybe there are some musicians or light gurus that can help illuminate some options for me.

I currently have 6 par 64s and 5 par 38s. I am looking to create scenes in cakewalk (we run music sequences with our show) and have that information control my lights via midi.

Is there a way to do that by purchasing a dimmer pak only rather than a controller? The controller seems to be a waste since the commands are coming from Cakewalk. Is this possible and can you recommend any dimmer packs that can just accept midi information. If not can you recommend any controllers?

Any help is apreciated.

The Pro Bar-4 and Cyber Pack both receive midi commands. Both can be assigned between midi channels 1-16 and note numbers 1-128. However, the Pro Bar has a "Fade Time" setting that allows you to set a fade time and the Cyber Pack does not. The fade time setting can be set from instant or no fade time to 60 seconds max. This means when a command is sent, it could take up to 60 seconds for the change to happen if desired. You may want to visit the Pro Bar webpage, on the Elation Professional website, as the unit is not set up like a traditional dimmer pack. It was designed to mount on a stand for quick and easy set up. The fact that Par Cans can be mounted directly to the bar is really convenient.
