Hi all. My band has a bit of lighting we've never really used, and I've sort of taken it upon myself to figure out how to use it to our best advantage.

We have two 4-can fixures on tripods, each with American DJ T16F chase controllers, and a footswitch... just a very basic setup, but it seems the T16Fs are DMX compatible and I'd like to be able to do more with this simple setup than to turn the chase sequences on and off.

I'd like to be able to define several lighting scenes by controlling each light separately, and to access those scenes as quickly and simply as possible. I'd prefer not to have to drag a computer around with me to accomplish a task that seems so simple, and I'd prefer not to have to spend a ton of money to do this, if possible. Fading from one scene to the other would also be a pleasant effect.

So I guess my question is... is there a simple, inexpensive controller I can purchase which will do this and if so, what would you recommend?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

Chuck

hi. um does this mean u have two tripods with four cans on each tripod? sorry just sort of confused! lol also are youy planning on expanding into more lights in the futre or are these 8 it? ok but for just pars check out the SCENE SETTER or you can check out the STAGE DESK 16 and also look at the STAGE SETTER 8
also here is a link to the manual in case you haven't seen it yet. T16F manual i hope any or all of this helps. peace! jingles!
Yeah, sorry... two tripods, 8 cans total and yes, I'd probably want expand the system once I get a handle on it.

It looks like the Scene Setter blows the Stage Desk 16 out of the water in terms of functionality, but they seem to be priced about the same at the discount vendors. Any idea why I might want the Stage Desk 8 over the Scene Setter? Would either of those consoles work with my T16Fs, or would I need to buy dimmer packs, or are those two different things?

Thanks for your reply by the way,

Hey Q,

ok it looks to me like it will all work out. First of all i would recommend the Scene Setter. I like its functions and all the different features, and it is sleek. Ok also your T16F's will work. Set everything up like normal. Address your T16F's to these addresses

Pack 1 = 001
Pack 2 = 006

Ok now in order for you to have control over the lights with your Scene Setter you need to have channel 1 and channel 6 on to 100%(255 DMX) Then faders 2-5 and 7-11 will control your lights. Let me know if it all works out and any other questions!
