I am new to this board as well as lighting so please be gentel. Well I've used simple lightboards (no dmx) and par cans but that is it.

I play bass in a christian band, been playing for about 10 years total, and since I have electrical experience (3 phase mainly) the other members want me to put a light setup. So when you reade the following questions dont laugh.

By the way our sound girls sister will be running the lights during the concerts. But I will program and fit every thing to the music.

1. Does the 24v 250w lamp in the mighty scan and the rainbow 250 draw the same amps or less than a 120v 250watt lamp.

2.I plan on using the rainbow 250 color changers in combination with some P-38 cans to lite the stage aera and the mighty scans woll be mounted to catch both the stage and the crowd. Will this work with these fixtures or will it be to much.(8 rainbows and 4 mighty scans.)

3. can any of you recomend anything better ot to use in conjunction with the above lights?

4. Lastly what amdj controlers would you recomend for this set up. I was thinking the operator II. Good or bad.

Sorry for being so long winded but there are no lighting stores close to home (60 mile drive one way.). Thanks for any help you can give.

i would have to say get a operator 1. i had that controller it is so easy to use it is great i havent used the operator 2 at all ive heard that its harder to work with but im not sure. i myself just upgraded to the show designer which is da bomb but expensive and a lot more confusing. as far as the lights go i just ordered the exact same rig of 8 rainbows and 4 mightys. i am adding this to my 3 dj scans 2 pockets and 2 xp3s i think they will go together nicely. hope this helps a little and good luck
