Amercian Audio UCD-100 error messages

Hi,

Does someone know what's the meaning of the error codes on a UCD-100 CD player? I have one that was working perfectly fine and all of a suden it looks like the firmware locks and I was not able anymore to change the source, so I turned it off and on and the only thing is doing is saying WELCOME and after a couple of seconds there is the message Link Error that flash and that's it, no other lights are on, nothing.

How can I just reset it ? and "Link Error", link to what ? It looks like buggy.

Hello,

I am sorry to hear you are having issues with your UCD-100. Unfortunately, it sounds like the error you are encountering is an issue with an internal component which isn't something that can just be reset. It would require servicing it, but the part is no longer available.

I found the problem. But how can this happen? It's just a CD Player, not a power amplifier, and it's always been in a cool, well-ventilated environment.

Professional gear is supposed to last longer than 5 years, we still use sometimes Studer CD Players from 1986 that work like new and have done so for 37 years.
