Whenever you look at an amps specs they will always give you power handling ratings for both 8ohmn and 4ohmn speaker handling. The reason that 4ohmn speakers can provide more power over 8 is because with 4ohmn speakers there is less resistence therefore more power can be delivered to that speaker(s).

To understand this better have a look at basic electronics 101 on resistence. The rules for ohms and resistence are the same for speakers and power. I won't elaborate too much on this because I'm not that good at passing on that kind of detailed knowledge. You might want to visit a D1ck Smith store in your area they have tons of information on that topic. Good luck
