Layout and ergnomics of controllers is very important. It's not just about slapping everything on there, some thought has to be done to it.

Then again, there are so many controllers because there are so many preferences.

The VMS4 seems to have some nice spacing and light up knobs and buttons. I'd still prefer to have a light over it, but I'd want to see how this looks in a dark environment before I were to think about purchasing it.

If ADJ Audio is going to provide profiles and layouts for other software packages, that's awesome. This unit is of no use to me since I don't do DJ work, but regardless, a company coming out with that kind of statement, that's just not heard of too often anymore.

Now, excuse my ignorance on Serrato, I know someone using it for Mac. I don't know what interface he has, but I see no MIDI interface on it. I bet he's had it for a few years so it's probably an older interface. Not sure if Serrato is like Pro Tools, where it needs PROPER hardware to function(say, the interface for example). But I could certainly see if you have a MIDI interface, taking advantage of that. With MIDI IN and OUT, you can get dynamic feedback from your activity at the controller.

Serato Itch is Serato's MIDI platform, but only works with certain controllers. Serato SSL1 is controlled exclusively by TCV or TCCD's. (tc= time code), SSL3 added MIDI capabilities.

AA has been working hard to provide multi software support with their controllers. I actually worked with Virtual DJ on the first mappings provided (by Virtual DJ as a download avaiable) for the DP2. I told Tom Freret that I would love to lend my time developing a mapper for VDJ for the VMS. Smiler Tom you still have my address right.
Thanks for the reply. Well it would be just a matter of the sound quality. Just in case something more is required, I just wanted to know if the possibilty existed.
But I dont know if you answered my question though. My question was regarding use of an external soundcard when using a software on a laptop for mixing.
Also I have another question...Will the VMS4's eq act as midi when using a software and let the software eq do the work, or will it use its own eq? (for example, when i use a software with the Xone4d, its the Xone's eq that are being used, not the software's)
Well you can run an external sound card into any of the inputs.
If you wanted the midi to control the software eq.s you could assign to channels as midi control, to control the software, and use 2 channels as analog to control the volume from your external card. To me it seems like a waste of channels, and it would be a little confusing.

So if the channels are assigned as midi = They will control the software EQ's and mixers.
If the channels are set to analog = They will act as a separate mixer from the software.
But I do not believe you can do both. As in you cannot use the faders as analog and the EQ's as midi.

As I don't have one in front of me, I cannot verify this though.
Thanks for your help, it clears some of it up for me. I guess I would also need to find a shop to get my hands on it to have all my questions answered.
Also I guess it definitely doesnt have an Isolator EQ and nowhere could i find the specs on its analog eq boost and cut range (and if full kill or not)
thanx...james/brian

occam's razor applies, i have been looking for a controller for a while that will control all for 4 channels/tracks of traktor..

you will been receiving my financial application for this mixer when they are available

all the best ADJ...love your light and will hopefully love your DJ gear!!!
Hello and greetings from Greece

I have to say that i m' very excited about VMS4 and i m looking forward for the releasee date here in Greece in a reasonable price to purchace it.

Got a small question abou the hardware because i didnt notice the answer in any video.

- The EQ knobs have puss-kill function?

I realy like the controller layout and i think is very dj friendly but i have to say that i m not very positive about the touch load buttons for the two decks, i will prefer hardware buttons for this ones.

keep up the good work!
The light over the unit should be a number one priority on all mixers, yet it seems only those that make rack style equipment have the sense to do that.Volume Cue/headphone level is way way to low, it's a big issue when playing a live set

The EQ buttons do not have a "kill" push button which is a big mistake, no overhead light and low headphone output are no no's for this unit otherwise a great product for the money. Also the fact that there are a bunch of controls of the front face panel and a headphone output makes it impossible to put a keyboard and mouse in front of it. should have been on the side.

I know YOU know that, Fluke! But I wasn't sure if other users knew that. Smiler
if it distorts in some Tracks than it not the ASIO driver but your files. If it where the ASIO driver all your songs would have the same sound for the entire duration of the song. FYI the ASIO does however communicate via USB if you are running your WIFI card this can be causing the CPU's clock source to have a process lag every 3-10 second this will be a problem that happens on time all the time to resolve this disable the wifi card.
