"Tap tempo" by MIDI

I don't see this in the manual or the forum. It seems like a no-brainer that the Elation DMX Operator Pro would allow you to control the tempo by means of a MIDI signal. Am I missing something? Or perhaps is the thought that the Audio function is close enough? I appreciate any help. Still a noob though making progress...
