I think this is right;
A "folded" sub or horn loaded has a longer throw than front loaded subs. Meaning the bottom end effect can be felt/heard almost anywhere in the room. The advantage is that you could put them practically anywhere in that room and it will have the same effect. Of course all this will depend on power and capacity of the subs you have, the room size and what effect you are trying to achieve i.e. do you just want bass just for the dancefloor or do you want your grandmas' pacemaker in the back of the room to sync with your music? The disadvantages with horn loaded subs is that the boxes tend to be bigger/bulkier because of multiple chambers required to produce that effect and as a result usually cost more.
