I am not able to have any of the 6 chases cycle unto themselves on a Chauvet Obey 70 controller. Seems that I start with one of the 6 chases and once the sequence within it completes, the controller switches over to another chase rather than repeating the sequence again.

Is there a way to program a chase to repeat until the user selects another chase number?

Lights include:
4 ADJ Mega Tri 64's,
1 ADJ REVO4,
4 Blizzard Flurry's and
2 Chauvet Mini Colorstrips
with strictly DMX cable,
proper addressing of the items and
a 120 ohm end plug.

Thanks for any help you can lend. Yo

As an update, the Obey 70 will not stay in the same chase after cycling through a particular set of scenes programmed into that chase. It will stay in Chase 1 as long as I don’t vary from it. If I go to another Chase, it will work fine until it reached the end of the Chase scene sequence. Once it reaches the end, it will flip to another Chase number and start it. Once that happens, the unit will not toggle back into Manual Scene mode without requiring a reboot. It appears that the Chase not repeating issue is part of a larger problem with the unit. I just sent a fax off to Chauvet Technical Support to garner their response. In the meantime, the Obey 70 might get replaced with a system that looks much more applicable to the performing musician in the DMXIS system by Enttec. Looks like the Aussies built something that programs everything you would need into a small, footswitch-able hardware box with a sizeable buffer to record all your sequences you create on a PC and ship over to it via USB for $276 US and available at Sweetwater, Full Compass and others here in the States. Hmmmm...
Oh crap, I mean "Jeff"... I'm very embarrassed !

No response back from Chauvet today. No 800 line to call them either. I called them on my nickel and they let me set for too long to stay on the line with them. Nobody picked up the phone. My other item that is a Chauvet (2 Mini Colorstrips) are problematic too. I'm getting discouraged with this company.
im sorry for the lack of service you are recieving...

Have you tried to clear the Obey and start over? im looking at the manual, seems straight forward to use (though usually that isnt the case in real life) try deleting the cases and starting fresh with them, maybe you recorded them all to eachother?? exit the program mode after each chase you made is done recording...maybe you have to exit them otherwise they will think its the same chase?
Jeff,

I was hoping to avoid that, but I've given that consideration. It will help me to re-organize the scene structure a little better. There is where the real time is spent anyway. Chase creation goes pretty quick and I filled all 6 up with 240 scenes each. I thought of some things to cover if I do a re-format/reset that would be kind of cool, so I might take a Saturday and devote it to doing your suggestion and see if those ideas dreamed up will work out. Thanks again for the help!!!
Jeff,

I got a voicemail from a rep at Chauvet and it is likely the answer to all of the issues. As an engineer and user of this stuff, I could really help these folks with common sense ideas that would push them in the right direction.

Apparently, each Chase on the unit is an on/off switch. In order to keep the unit from jumping from one chase to the next, you must first turn off the chase you are using by pushing that button again, before selecting another chase. Otherwise, the unit will toggle between each chase that is still "on."

This is also likely why I was not able to go back into "Manual Scene Mode" after selecting a second chase after Chase 1. I apparently never turned off all invoked chases first. Chase(s) were likely still "on" and the Obey would not allow me to go back to "Manual Scene" without all chases physically being turned off first.

I'm sure you're thinking what I am thinking, "Why don't they place an indicator LED on each chase button to indicate whether it is on?"

I can't wait to get home from work tonight to test out this theory. I'll let you know if it works out, then you can put this one in "your memory's horde" professor!!! (A little Moody Blues schtick for ya from "In Search of the Lost Chord.")

Thanks again,

Wes
Jim,

This is where I am at this point:

May still redo all the scenes and chases to better coordinate some ideas I came up with after programming the Obey 70.

Also looking at possible changing over to a DMXIS system from Enttec that looks really promising. Folks are using it with a Behringer pedal and getting some good results in a low budget musician application, like yours truly.

Got home and followed the instructions in the voicemail and the unit works fine. Being close to re-formatting the unit and losing the hours of programming that went into creating about 96 scenes and 6 chases (of 240 scenes each), it was intriguing to look in the manual to see if something was missed relative to the voicemail explanation in the user's manual. It wasn't there. Chauvet not only failed to put literally no indication of the need to shut down all chases via indicator lights on this board, they didn't publish the fact that all chases must physically be turned off before you can return to Manual Scene mode.
interesting....we from time to time do miss things in out manuals which we correct the moment we find out we missed or had errors....i find it hard to believe something that has been out as long as this no one called in to ask about these steps...makes no sense why they wouldnt have fixed that by now. glad you got it working
