What would be cool is a SDK(Software Developer's Toolkit) to allow us to make our out profiles and then do some profile sharing. But that might be too much to ask.

Right now, the MyDMX software is of course focused on ADJ products, which makes perfect sense. Just another reason to stick with their products.
Actually you will find there are over 2,000 profiles already available in the my dmx scan library. and if you go to your programs folder open my dmx you will see a "scan library" and it wil open up and there you are your very own fixture profile creator!! if you know anybody that needs a file u have simply attach it in an email. easy as 1,2,3! sincerely,
Don't assume "different brand, essentially same item, should be the same".

Definately check the manuals and specifically the DMX specification page. That's the only way to know for sure.

Making profiles isn't that difficult. I know, I just did it myself. It can be time consuming, but it's not terribly difficult.
There is a scan library, profile creator program which will allow you to create your own profiles in the myDMX bundle. However, we do already have a profile created for the unit in question. Please send us an e-mail to support@americandj.com and request the profile. We'll send it to you ASAP. In the near future, you will find profiles, not available in myDMX, on the myDMX webpage. Let us know if you need anything else. Thanks.
I was wondering.... I built a couple of fixture profiles for the software called "Freestyler". I wonder if those profiles are transferrable to MyDMX? I have a color changer that I bought from ADJ years back... it is not programmerable per se but has several different diachoic colors that can be called up by different fader values. It is DMX addressable??
PS. I just ordered MyDMX from Springtree online.
I also need the Chauvet color strip and also the chauvet moving head fixture Q Spot 200. Would be greatly appreciated.

No wonder it didn't go through. Had the email address screwed up. Now its right!!

I keep saying that dont really need a profile for the dimmer packs. You just need to enter a 1channel generic dimmer from the genetic folder. And just make sure the profiles you load into the software are addressed the same as the lights plugged into the packs. Maybe someday I will make profiles for all the packs but it isn't really neccessary. Sincerely,
Dimmer packs do NOT need a profile, mainly because you're using dimmer packs to control Par-Can type lights. So, it's more critical that you toss the right number of generic lights(say, may Par38 profile, or a Par46/56/64/36).

The dimmer pack itself is merely providing the interface. What's critical is that you are displaying what is intended to be connected to that dimmer pack.

A dimmer pack may enable your light show, but it's the light that does the light show for you. Pick the generic and place wisely and you're golden.
Anyone know where i can download the profile for the American DJ Double Roller to use with MyDMX? I tried downloading the latest package on the site and it was not included. I really would like to know how it works with my new light before i buy the product so was hoping to get the profile to test it with the demo version of the software.
Hello and welcome to the forums. as of right now there is no profile for the double roller or double scan. the software in the state it is in now wont allow a fixture profile to have two sets of pan and tilt channels. it messes with the software and it does not recognize it. you can add enough generic dimmer channels to match the number of channels for the light but even if we had a profile you probably wouldnt be able to visualize it in the 3D viz. ths will be updated on the compu live package sometime this year but i am not certain about my dmx. we will not be releasing any updates to my dmx other than bug fixes. sincerely,
well that really sucks haha. i was planning on using that particular controller as the concept of it will be ideal for mobile dj's using a laptop. is it just the software that has a problem with this light or am i going to find that other dmx hardware controllers are going to have the same issue? the light itself is borderline cool but now with the controller not being a compatible option i'm thinking returning it may be the right thing to do. quite honestly by reading all of the posts about this product i think the concept of it was a good idea but the ability to stay on top of software changes and updates is really what would have made this a real crowd pleaser. now maybe it is just an issue with dual headed lights but you would think that a dmx channel would be a dmx channel.
ya t does get on my nerves too cause i cannot create that profile. but will try a few work arounds and report back sometime soon. the software only has problems with two things mainly right now., those are two pan and tilt channels like for double roller and stuff and also a multiple RGB channel light say for example a chauvet color splash 196. where there are three red led rings and two green and blue. what you also have to keep in mind is this product was designed to be a basic computerized lighting controller, not ADJ's answer to keep up with the compu live from elation. so there are nice features on this software and it gets the job done for the most part and it is nice and easy to use but f you want more advanced features then there is compu live or any other program of your choice. but like i said the problems listed above are being fixed i believe in the next Compu Live software release. and yes a DMX channel is a dmx channel and will operate those lights but you will just need to have the light in front of you. Sincerely,
Jingles...maybe i didn't understand what you meant. Will the MyDMX controller run the double roller? In the end of your post you said...

"and yes a DMX channel is a dmx channel and will operate those lights but you will just need to have the light in front of you."

Does that mean it is just a problem with the virtual stage portion of the software and that i can still control the light with it's functions i'll just have to do it old school style and create the program in a dark room with the light rollin?

Cause if that is the case i really don't care as long as it can still be done. I'm sure i will be using other lights and scanners in the future and for multiple applications and if thats just the exception to this product then i might still buy it.
yes it will. But I'm not sure how you are going to put a type of profile on the software to control it. You could put a bunch of 1channel profiles on there for the number of channels the light is. Or what I could do is create a profile for each half of the light or just one profile and you just enter two of those profiles. So it would look like two lights but really be one. Does that make sense? By all means if you purchase by dmx I will ensure you will be able to use the double roller. So I got your back man! LOL. Sincerely,
Hi there, Could someone help me out with creating a profile for a MICROH LED BAR II?

I have created one myself but i'm not able to make the profile work properly with the MY DMX FX feature or the color selection feature.

My understanding is that you can't apply multiple Red, green, or blue mixing channels to the same fixture.

The LED BAR II has 3 sections with independent color mixing for each section.

Here's the DMX info: (11 Channels)

Channel 1: 0-3 Light Off
4-9 Light On
10-39 Strobe
40-69 Fade in and Fade out
70-99 Auto 7 Color Change
100-110 Chase 1
111-121 Chase 2
122-132 Chase 3
133-143 Chase 4
144-154 Chase 5
155-165 Chase 6
166-176 Chase 7
177-187 Chase 8
188-198 Chase 9
199-209 Chase 10
210-220 Chase 11
221-231 Chase 12
232-244 Chase 1-Chase 12
245-250 Sound Chase
251-255 Sound Strobe
Channel 2: RGB Dimmer (Master Dimmer)
Channel 3: Red Dimmer 1
Channel 4: Green Dimmmer 1
Channel 5: Blue Dimmer 1
Channel 6: Red Dimmer 2
Channel 7: Green Dimmer 2
Channel 8: Blue Dimmer 2
Channel 9: Red Dimmer 3
Channel 10: Green Dimmer 3
Channel 11: Blue Dimmer 3
