keep getting a malfunction message

last night, was using my DMX when it would freeze and USB light would stop flashing. The lights would stop on the program that it was running. If you unplugged the USB and plugged it back in, it would start working right again until it would freeze and do that same thing again. Stopped using it, tested it today and now it will not work at all. The USB light comes on and stays solid and so does the DMX light. But, it will not link with the program at all today. Now when plugged in, just get malfunction message from Windows USB manager.
