Is there a thing as to much sound gear

I was just thinking about this.
One day i would love to own a night club and i have always dreamed of puting a really big sound system in it, and i mean a really big one. Now i dont mean you dont have to use the sound to its full potential but just so you arnt struggling to get sound out of a smaller one.
Here is my example
Say the venue only required 4 subwoofers and i put in 6 or 8, Would that be stupid or would it make it better?
Now remeber the volume control wouldnt need to be pushed up as much because you have more sound than you need.
Wouold this be a good idea?

You have big dreams of owning a club DJX. As for your subs, it all depends on the space. From what I know, club design is not a simple thing. The size of the venue, the soundproofing, the builing structure etc. and the overall vibe of the club feel all are factors in what the clubs sound/lighting/video system is going to be like. It sounds like you are really into clubs, so I would recommend you read CSI, or Club Systems International, its a great magazine about clubs.
