Inno pocket roller strange DMX power problem

Without any DMX cables plugged in, the light performs fine until I plug in the DMX cable, then the light and display turns off. The barrel motor will pulse slightly. When I unplug the DMX cable, the light and display turns on.
Different cables and other light connections have been tested. This did work when purchased 2 months ago until I took it out for a wedding Saturday... (yes, it was transported very carefully).
