I just got back from a gig on the 8th and had my lights sitting in my room. I decided to set them up and test them out for another gig next Thursday on the 22nd. I set-up one of my DJ Scan 250HP's and went over to my board and turned it on. I went through each fader to make sure everything was working, everything worked perfectly. I walked around the table the light was set on to set up the video camera and the light fell off the table. The table is only about 2 ft. tall so it wasn't a big drop. It landed on it's back but nothing cracked, the lamp didn't break, everything seemed fine. I set it back up on the table and went to check everything out. The tilt is okay, the color wheel is fine, and the gobo wheel is intact. The pan motor however is not okay. It will only pan one direction but not the other way. The light is still under warranty but I don't think it will cover that. Not sure though. Can I buy a replacement motor or something to have it fixed by next thursday? This light is kinda essential to my rig, I only have 5 lights.

2 Scans
2 ColorShots
1 MinSpot

I am renting wash lights.

so any advice?

I'm gonna have to give them a call tomorrow cuz i don't have time today to do it before they close.

I set the light back up today and everything seemed to work okay. as long as the tilt is at 0 then it will pan without fail, just perfectly. But as you tilt it it starts to get stuck and won't pan. I'm not sure why this has happened from such a small drop. I've seen lights fall of trees at 9 or 10 feet and work perfectly fine! Oh well. I'm gonna do some testing tonight and see if i can't figure something out.

Not to knock the ADJ products, but considering the costs, and compared to other fixtures, honestly, it doesn't take much for any fixture at any price level to break after a drop. Always best to avoid drops. Even when I do test stuff, I still follow full safety procedures. Right now, I need to invest in some safety cables.

Heck, I got you beat by a long shot. Someone stole $10K of my gear at an event, which in turn wrecked 2 years of marketing for corporate gigs. This loss damaged my reputation and I had to cancel a buttload of corporate gigs(think anywhere from 5-10/week at $500 a pop) because I no longer had the gear to do the job(and no money to replace it). On top of that, I have people working hard to sabotage the rest of my efforts.

Dude, we're talking potential income losses in the millions of dollars. Not petty stuff.

Get that light fixed ASAP! You might want to pay some expedite fees. I know ADJ was overly accomodating when my fog machine was defective out of the box. UNfortunately, I had to buy a new one to keep moving since there was no way that ADJ could facilitate a replacement fast enough(a gig landed in my lap an hour after I shipped the defective unit). When the unit arrived, I was contacted by phone. 4 weeks later, my replacement unit arrived. I'm happy with how ADJ handled it. Now I have an extra. OK, cool. No down time.

ADJ service has been great. When it comes to ordering parts, they're good on that too. You might want to call them up when you have some time to really work on it. Be prepared to crack that bad boy open and get down and dirty. You're learn a lot that way too. That's one thing I like about those new "inside" series of YouTube videos as they don't just show the light working, they show how it works.

I'm out. Back to inspecting all my FOH connections and build what I can of my stage box(waiting for mounting brackets for some wireless in-ears)
