Welcome to the forums.

No, you're not going to be able to have the light go into stand alone mode and have it run a static color. If you go over the manual, it lacks that sort of capability. To get what you really want, you're going to have to run DMX.

Are you going to be OK with that? I just get the impression you've made an ill-informed decision and are now going to not be happy with your fixture.

My suggestion to you and anyone else, and I take this advise as well, is to feel free to ask question and get opinions about lights before you buy. I'd rather you waste the time up front and figure it out than be an unhappy buyer. I even ask for information about fixtures.
Thanks Chris, yea, I guess now I have to bring them back. I wish I would have done my research before the purchase.

on another note I have been looking thru the forum and I just wanted just say your doing an awesome job of keeping everyone informed on the forum, keep up the great work!

Hi Chris,

Can you explain how to do this with DMX? I have this light to try out and I cannot find any way to display a static color. I can find no combination of the three DMX channel settings that will allow me to display a single static color. I can get the bar to statically display all of the led's at once, but that's it.

I believe I have tried all of the chases, fades, strobes, etc but I am relatively new to lighting so it is quite possible I missed something.

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide.

Hi James,

Thanks for the quick response. I was afraid that was the answer.

Do you think I could effectively accomplish a constant single color by using a very slow transition on one of the pre-programmed chases and before it had a chance to change colors, running another (identical) chase so that the unit never got around to changing colors? Essentially running a slow chase as a short scene and repeating.

I'd really like to keep the bar but if I can't get it stay on blue for an entire song it won't work for our application.

Thanks,

Doug
You could try that yes.
This is another example of having to know what your buying before you make a purchase. The manuals are online for all to download.
Doug that was not a knock against you by any means so please don't take offense. Also anyway I could talk you into buying some mega bar 50's to replace your colorburst? Smiler Would be much better for you most likely.
I also own several units Color Burst 8's. I also use the UC3 remote unit, so everything works with one remote.
But when I use the unit in sound mode they are so "nervous". It is way to fast with its colorchanges , even if it does follow the beat. when you turn the sound level control all the way down it gets better, but just when I like the speed, it start ignoring the beats. I think it is getting in a standard time setting.

Is there something to do about it; or is the only option switch to DMX!? (or sell them)

Thanks Seb
