I want to first start off by saying I don't work for American DJ. Second, this opinion is strictly from my own personal experiences.

The first item that I will give my review on is the Hurricane 1700 fog machine by Chauvet. While it appeared to by nicely constructed and heavy duty (it was heavy)it failed on me after only having it 2 weeks and only used in my garage about 2 times. It did put out alot of smoke, but only for about a 1 minute burst and then it had to re-heat itself which took at least 5 minutes...That was terrible for the $350 that I paid. I've also had bad experiences with other Chauvet products, so needless to say that I'm done with Chauvet.

The next item is a American DJ Hazer. After not likeing the blinding smoke put out by a typical fog machine, I thought I would try a hazer. Some of the brands/models that I wanted to try were quite expensive ($800-1200) so I had to settle for a much less expensive model...the American DJ Hazer. It was nicely built, but it was really nothing fancy. But I was really impressed with how quick it started to spew out the haze. Under normal lighting you can barely see the effect, but in the dark with the Dynasty Scan lights that I use, WOW! The lighting effect looked great! Just enough to see the lights, but not blocking the view of the band. I ran it for (2) 1hour sets, pluse another hour for the dj and it performed flawlessly. I recommend it.

Third is the American DJ Scan lights. The best part I like about these lights is their price...typically around $150-$200 depending on how many you buy. I didn't like the fact that they are made of plastic. It does put out a bright light for 150 watts, but the colors and gobos change too slowly for my taste. The mirror movement is fine and fast enough for me. It would be nice to be able to change the color wheel and order custom colors. *something to think about*. Also, it is very difficult to make adjustments for the position of the scanner when the knobs are on the inside of the brackets.

The fourth is the American DJ 250ex (not the fusion ex). I love the metal construction wich automatically shows durability. The angle adjustment is also very nice because the knobs are on the outside of the bracket and are very secure when tightened. The colors are also very nice, but as before, it would be nice to be able to change color/gobo wheels. The speed in which the colors and gobos change is also VERY nice, smooth and FAST. Although the price is more expensive, it is still very reasonable at around $200 ea.

*LOOKING FOR MORE 250EX SCANNERS*

THE END.
