Here is an update for you Jingles. FRUSTRATION!
I did the download and install of the newest version. Lost my stage set up but not my fixtures. Re set my stage and saved. Placed all my fixtures in position on the trusses. Only got half way through so I looked to save all that info. Hit save on the 3D vis. again just to be safe. Looked for save on the main fixtures set up page but only "save as" was available. Since I am only on the original file I named "show" I expected it to ask if I wanted to save changes which it did. I went back to make more changes later and the lights were still where I had placed them! Horray! I followed the same process the second time when I finished working. This time... no question about saving changes popped up. Worried, I opened the program and looked at the 3D vis. Up came the automatic mode "patch has changed" pop-up. Lights were gone. I opened up "show" and lights came up in 3D vis but all back in a straight line. Oh crap! Back to square one for the 6th time. I'm dyin here dude! I know there is something I am missing. Speak to me oh great one! Then... tell me how I can rotate a truss bar on y axis and have those lights move with it? Thanks!
well... lets see.
I'm using a Toshiba Satellite tablet PC

Windows XP
Pentium M processor
60gb hard drive
2gb RAM
Intel extreme graphics 2 video

It's old but not clogged w/ junk. I keep it clean with little or no photo or music files. I set up my light positions again and now I'm trying again and saving to a new file. Working so far. Wait I'll check again. Yup. Still looks ok. I also checked "automatically open with last show" to see if that helps. Love the effects generator! Awesome with phase change option. What else can you suggest.
I sent this thread to one of my developers and I should hear back from them soon. I'll let you know when I know. I'll also post a reply if I think of anything else to try. I know we had this issue in the past and I thought it was resolved. I'll try building a 3D set up and try to replicate your issue. what fixtures do you have and how many?
Sincerely,
Thanks for your help. Was still ok when I was fooling with it today. Maybe saving to a new file was the ticket.
Currently the set up is with 16 simple par 56 cans and 4 ADJ mighty scans. will also be using 8 venue scanners and I have 4 Chauvet led minspots to explore. Wanna get this bug resolved first. Really like what I see so far. Will probably start programming scenes soon.
There really is no manual for the Scan library Editor. Is your editor blue? or does it look sort of old style XP window-ish? lol Best I can describe it without putting up pictures.

As far as the 3D goes. I was told to have you check three things about how your doing the 3D.
1 Check that he is not accidentally overwriting the patch by clicking YES to the “do you wish to automatically add the changes to the visualizer patch?”
2 If he is sure he is doing everything correctly, see if there is a pattern and if so we will try to fix the bug
3 Suggest just patching the fixtures separately in the visualizer instead of using the automatic patch from mydmx
Thanks for the input. I can move them together. What I was hoping to do set the angle of the lights while positioned on the trusses and then rotate the whole truss on a single axis and have the lights keep the same angle while moving with the truss. Instead the lights and the truss rotate independently in their current location. Meaning that the truss moves and leaves the lights behind to rotate independently. I don't think MYDMX can link the lights to the trusses.
