It's hard to say one is better than the other in terms of performance. The only thing the CDI's have that the Velocity doesn't is the visual marker, and larger wheel. IT depends in your needs, a rackmount or tabletop. And the biggest deciding factor that will affect the performance is, the layout. Try them both out, and se which one you are more comfortable using.
and one more I consider purchase of tascam 1700 since AM has no mp3 models is it good? in comparsion to AM cdi 500 or velocity
We can't really discuss competitors products here, but I will admit I just purchased a 1700 at the DJ Expo for just that reason (MP3). I have only played with it a little bit, and was quite impressed. It is now sitting in its box waiting for me to finish our new console. One thing I noticed though, was some features (like looping) would not function at all using MP3's.
I want to buy it for just the same reason, and maybe one more it's a divison of teac (good cr-rooms
