Traktor don't reconize VMS4

so did you also install the VMS drivers etc.?

if the controller icon does not light if you move a control, traktor doesnt see the controller at all.

so something must have gone wrong before.

Yes I installed the VMS drivers that is on the cd delivered with the VMS4

I don't understand where the problem can come because it's the same version that is install on my own computer !

Make sure that, in Traktor's controller manager, your inputs port and output ports are set up correctly. Ensure that they're both set to VMS4.

Ok but where I choose the inputs and output in controler manager ?

1. Go to Traktor preferences.
2. A window will come up. On the left side of this window, there are a ton of different options. Click "controller manager".
3. You should click "import" and chose the .tsi file that you use for your VMS4 mapping.
4. Then in the upper right hand corner of the window, there are two pull down menus. One says input, and the other says output. Make sure both are set to "VMS4".

You should be good.

also i'm pretty sure there are newer drivers etc. on the vms website.

I don't understand because in my own computer , the in-port and out-port is on " n/a " but my vms4 works well !

I've already install the driver and the firmware !

please post the computers' specs.

does the computer "see" the vms as connected?

p.s.: you said you used the drivers from the cd, i bet the ones on the website are more recent. if you checked this it's all good.

So the computer's spec :
-processor AMD V120 2.2GHz
- RAM : 2 GO
- 64 bits

When I turn on the VMS4 the computer reconize it but not traktor !

Yes it "see" the VMS4

and in traktor, can you choose the "ADJ Asio" as soundcard in the preferences?

yes !! I did both !
That's why I don't understand because in my own computer and in my sister 's computer it's the same file .tsi that I imported !

Update Traktor Pro to last version (like 1.2.7).
Load TSI file checking ALL options in window options.
Check all options on SOUND CARD tab.

Where I can update the last versoin of traktor pro ?

You must buy Traktor Pro Full and download from Native Instruments website.
I do not recommend using version "pirated" software, because I've used and had serious problems like virus and the famous "blue screens"in Windows.

Well since my vms4 doesnt work with the VDJ i got with the controller i tried Traktor pro 1.2.3. aswell.
I did the settings after a youtube video (adj asio soundcard, controller settings-here tsi import). The traktor recognizes the mapping,for example if i use the jog it scratches, and the song starts and stops (but i cant hear them, i only see it on my screen that they are moving) so it recognizes the vms, but no sound is coming out. If i go back to preferences and controller settings i see that instead my vms4 mapping A "generic keybord" is set..and i am unable to change it..so if i set again the vms tsi in and close the preferences it goes back to "keyboard" again.it doesnt save it, but why?? And of course no sound. I am nervous a bit, couse i am unable to use the controller both vdj and traktor...

Well, I will try to explane Traktor Options to you:

When you switch between keyboard and controller and close the Options window, where the keyboard will be shown first, but this does not mean that Traktor is not recognizing your controller. If it was not recognizing the controls were not matched on the screen! So if you move the controls in VMS4 and they are matched on the screen means that the Traktor mapped controls correctly. This is fact!

In VMS4:

- Install the driver of it.
- In front of VMS4 select keys corresponding decks: For four decks, change all the keys for USB; For 2 decks, change keys MIDILOG 2 and 3 for USB. MIDILOG 1 and 4 should be in ANALOG.
- Open the ASIO driver. If you use 4 decks, select the four outputs with the following sequence: 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8. If you use two decks, select 2 output with the following sequence: 1-2 and 3-4. This mode is the default VMS4.

In Traktor:

In audio OUTPUTS session, you must map the following sequence:

- EXTERNAL MIXER.
- 1-2 and 3-4 (for use with two decks).
- 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8 (for use with 4 decks).

In audio INPUTS session, do the following sequence:

- 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8 (to 4 decks).
- 1-2 and 3-4 (for two decks).

You can use the VMS4 as INTERNAL MIXER, but there may be conflict between the volume controls and software VMS4because it has internal analog mixer. Will have to do tests to see if the sound quality is not affected.

Remember that if you choose to use the EXTERNAL MIXER mode, you can not use the PREVIEW in the playlist because the sound will come right in on both channels at the MASTER output!

Yesterday when i was trying the vms acted like a keybord, this is why i thought that "keybord" thing is problem.

-Where can i open the ASIO driver?

-What is the best mapping to the traktor pro (1.2.3- i cant upgrade it,u know..)

-Can i match the leds somehow to traktor? i know i can with mapping one by one, but i dont want it that way..is there any downloadable "mapping" for this problem?

To Open ASIO Driver:

- Start Menu > American Audio > ASIO Driver (jog icon). ASIO config will show to you. See User Guide for more explanations.

- Traktor 1.2.3 is a old version. Please, upgrade to 1.2.7 to total compatibility with VMS4.

If you use "ilegal" version of Traktor, you can't upgrade from NI website. You should download Traktor on alternatives website or p2p "alternative" version (at your own risk!). But I do not recommend the use of pirated versions, because the probability of error is very high. Get the original version from Native Instruments website.

If you already own the original version of the program, please acess SERVICE CONTROL PANEL, type your website account data from Native Instruments, activate the program and see in if is available UPGRADE download to version 1.2.7.

And maybe you know an answer on my VDJ problem aswell, dont you? Why does it show up an "error occured" message just after startup?-That is the original CD i got with my vms4....

This error appears, probably due to improper installation or because the ASIO driver of VMS4 is not properly installed.

- Uninstall VDJLE and any other version of VDJ that you have installed.
- Delete the folder 'VirtualDJ' in C:\users\<your account>\documents (Win7) or C:\Documents and Settings\<your account>\my documents (WinXP).
- Reinstall VDJLE (original) and together, install the ASIO driver that automatically starts after the installation of VDJ.

If the driver is already installed, let it reinstall over.

i see. i will try it with this complete removal.
But yesterday i tried the vms with a VDJ6, not the LE, and its started (the program), but when at the preferences i wanted to set the asio soundcard appeared the "error occured" message again.

What are you saying the error is appearing because of bad driver installed. The VDJ is not recognizing the sound card VMS4 ...

Do a test on another computer to make sure that is the same driver.
It can also happen to be a physical problem in its own soundcard or computer USB interface or VMS4.

so i tried it on my desktop pc. i installed the vdj, the asi driver etc, the asio saw the controller, and the pc also, couse when i put it in it recognizes az vms4 midi controller.Well i tried to start the VDJ and it says there is no controller connected. WTF??i tried again the sam procedure and rebooted the pc..the error is the same..i think iam going to fed up...

i did everything as you said in the traktor pro 1.2.7.

in preferences/audio setup i choose adj asio and the inputs and outputs as you said.
no sound, only something interesting sound like a keybord chord or something.
if in the audio settings i choose vms4 midi device than sound is coming from deck A, but if i push a button,there is a keyboard feeling and sound followed aswell. In the output routing there is vms 1-2 but no 3-4 to set...i think this is why only deck A gives sound...

Your problem is configurations.

I did exactly this way but in 90% no sound, only a piano feeling.
After 3 hours of trying i did it, like this and it was good. it worked, except the FX section. I didnt hear them to work.
When it was mostly okay i tried different connection methods..turn off the vms4, plug in the usb, turn on or turn on and plug in, installing the asio driver again and so on.
When i put in an other mapping it goes away again and since i was unable to fix it.

About the VDJ: I uninstalled it as you suggested, removed all the files from document and so on. Reinstall, driver aswell and NO..still the same f.kin windows message. Tried to upgrade from the vdj website to VDJ 7LE, but its the same. i see, that every knob is working on the screen, but cant start play music.
I also downloaded VDJ pro. If the vms4 is connected when i start the sofware than the windows pops up with the same error, if te controller not connetcted than it starts and when i set in preferences the asio it goes away again with the "error occured" message.
Do you think that the 1Gb Ram could be the problem?-If yes,than the traktor why works? There were sound coming out so the soundcard of the vms cant be crashed...i hope so....

I installed the version 1.2.7 of traktor but there is always the same problem !

it seems to be good now, just few things left: The fx section is not ok. i can select the fx and parameter it, but there is no reaction on it. No sound...
And how can i assign the leds aswell? for example the cue&play button?

I use the mapping by subkonsius.

re FX: you have to activate the FX units by clicking on the respective buttons in the mixer part of traktor, labelled "1" or "2".

re LEDs: you have to assign the very exact midi command manually also for OUTPUT and choose the respective midi message as value.

I use the Subkonsious mapping, downloaded from vms site..so the leds are mainly working i just want for example the cue to stay lit and the play to flash when cue piont is set..just as in the vdj. If it is possible may i ask you to show it via screenshots? Thanks a lot!! Your admire

And one more thing in traktor...
its not recognizes the BPM at all of my tracks..so if i just open a folder it says to every track it has 000 bpm (except 1-2). if i load it, of course it says the bpm, but than do not put it next to the track in the folder....

hm, not sure if this is possible in traktor... AFAIK in traktor there is no "flashing" option in any way, except a special output mapping called "flash with beat" or similar - i'm not sure if this can be combined with the cue point setting.

but to make sure you may ask the author of the traktorbible, rainer haselier (http://www.traktorbible.com).

in traktor, you have to use the track collection - this is traktor's database and only then you can use all its useful features. have a read in the traktor manual or the traktorbible, which is a very good addition to the manual.

in a nutshell: you have to import and analyze all your tracks and manage them from below the collection node.

To made the cue lit up, when the cuepoint is set is also impossible?Couse now if i set the cue the led stays dark.
