i brought a vms4.1 and it arrived last week with midilog firmware 5.12 on the mixer LED`s, and its unable to act as a standalone mixer or able to use analog inputs

midilog cue channel play out of all master and booth RCA and XLR outputs, which stops you being able to mix any 4/4 music without your beat matching being played to the public on the main system, master RCA or XLR output should be conneted to

you are only able to mix 4/4 music in deckadance using the internal mixer, and turning the midilog channel volume down when cue is enabled

i asked customer services and they said change console mode, but it does exactly the same

so as the VMS4.1 works now with midilog channels with cue enabled playing out master and booth RCA, XLR output, and headphones, the VMS4.1 can only be used as a 4 deck software mixer

if a new firmware is released that stops channels with cue enabled being played through the master RCA and XLR outputs, the VMS4.1 would be compatible with all setups, be able to be used as a standalone mixer with software or analog inputs, and be able to be used as a mixer or controller in a club

Can you clarify this? I think you are saying that you only hear the channel trough the master if the Cue(pfl) is activated. This leads me to believe your audio configurations are totally wrong. It sounds like you have routed the headphone on deckadance instead of the playback decks.

You should configure it so decks A,B,C and D are assigned to the desired audio channel on your VMS4.
no, its a broken mess and needs a new firmware to fix it all....

1> when using usb or analog mode channels, the channel will still play through master RCA and XLR when cue is enabled and the volume has`nt been minimized

2> when you turn the volume down using usb or analog mode channels and cue is enabled you can no longer monitor them in headphones because you have turn`t the volume down

3> when using virtual dj and the volume is down and cue is enabled, you can monitor them without the channel playing on any of the master outs

on a standard mixer, you press cue, and the channel stops getting played through master outputs like the master RCA and XLR, and you use the channel volume to EQ the levels of basses together in your headphones before you start the actual mix when playing through the master outs

virtual dj is rubbish, cue working like a scratch mixer in that only means nothing, because most people wont be using it

so while its all broken, leave monitoring playing through the booth RCA for the sake of festivals and events where headphones are not loud enough or plugging into another mixer depending on your setup and choice

i know all of that, but the VMS4.1 still has a rubbish scratch mixer, having to turn the volume down to stop channels with cue enabled playing on your master outs

its impossible to mix any type of "EDM" or other type of music but rubbish hiphop on a scratch mixer, you cannot get the levels of tunes being played correct even if they are all normalized to the RMS averages

your mix will just like rubbish if using monitor overdrive and channel gain and monitor cue mix volumes all together just so you can both tunes playing in the headphones so you can beatmatch and EQ the basses together, and then just put up the main channel volume which is completely different to all other volumes your using when monitoring

only america has scratch mixers only, no other country, especially those in clubs, or standard in the shops that do not have scratch mixer in the name

on a standard mixer, you just press cue to stop the channel playing on the master outs so you can use the main channel volume to do the levels in your headphones

so there is not much compitition in the shops for controllers under $300, the VMS4.1 needs a standard mixer firmware

can`t be bothered, get some mixers from the vinyl days before people stopped mixing and just took up having some stupid scratching, twist some effects then chop into the next tune and let software beat match your house music for you

4/4, every scene has its own formula of 32 bars, you should be able to play as many tunes as you want on the master at the same time if you manage todo the level, for as long as you want
