MyDMX not seeing dongle

Are you using boot camp or something like VMware or any sort of virtual machine software? I know you said the latest but I would still like to confirm the actual version date please.

Thanks for a quick response Jingles. I am running SEP 09. I just looked on the website and saw DEC 10. I am going to download that now. I am running bootcamp so I boot right up into windows.

I am starting to think it was a problem with the computer seeing the dongle. Here is some more infromation about what it was doing.

When I plugged in the dongle I would get a solid red power light, a solid green USB light and a solid green DMX light. When this happened and I started MyDMX it would open in Demo Mode. I noticed that when it started working the red power light was solid, the USB light came on and turned off and the DMX light was blinking. Then when I started MyDMX this time the USB light came on solid then started flashing when the software was fully open.

The weird thing was that several restarts, including pulling the battery, did not help. What finally helped was I closed the laptop causing it to go to go to sleep. When I opened it to try one last time it started working. So maybe I'll do that right away next time? I don't know.

It says that the FOLDER IS INVALID. Can you have your guys look at it?

i bet you re using xlr cables and fried the box. You need dmx cables.. I fried my box twice and learnt the hard way. Double chek ur cables

Nope only 100% DMX cables here. I also did not even have the cable connected to the box when I was plugging in the USB cable. It only happened that one time and has not happened again.

Well it happened again. Another show at the same venue it happened last time. I have done countless rehearsals and a show (at a different venue) and no problems. Before I connect the dongle to the DMX cable I plug it in to the USB port and all the lights on it illuminate and stay that way. Then when I start up MyDmx it starts in demo mode.

This time I brought another computer and it did the same thing with the second computer. I am thinking that the dongle is the problem now. So I take it out of the venue, thinking there maybe some kind of interference, and try to get it to work. That is what I did last time this happened. That time it suddenly started working while I was outside.

It was 10 minutes to show time and I was about to give up. I tapped the dongle while it was plugged into the computer and the DMX light started to flash. It was so weird. I don't understand why this is happening. It is strange how this only happens at this one venue and when I tapped it it started to work.

Can anyone help me with this? I mean $300 and this thing works when it wants to. Very frustrating.
