It will not work on my laptop or my desktop. this is the only complaint I have about this great software. I cannot place fixtures truss, stands etc on it without them disappearing off the screen, changing sizes and colors, and it will not display any lighting so I can program and experimentand se my work. I'm quite sure that both my computers have the necessary juice to run this, as I use it live and it does everything it's suposed to when physically hooked up to the lights. I called tech support twice and bioth times the response i got was "I don't know, try reloading the program" Any help out there?

Hey DJ FOG. Welcome to the forums. I moved your thread to the my dmx section because you posted in the media controllers section. This is the correct my dmx section to post in
Can you tell me which version date of my dmx you have installed aswell as the computers specs you have installed the software on. I have not seen this issue before but I look forward to helping you resolve it.
Sincerely,
Sorry Chris I'm not exceptionally computer literate, which is why I often rely on the experience and knowledge of others smarter in areas than I. I assure you I'm not stupid though and once taught, I retain and understand. Thanks. I thought I could copy/paste this info. Note to self, this doesn't work this way. There. I got it. Smiler

I can't find any info on what kind of video card I have on either machine.

I hope this is all the info you need. Thanks for your help.
OK, here's something:

I CAN run MyDMX on Windows 2000 with no problem, provided of course, I don't use the 3D Visualizer. The paltry 16MB video card CANNOT handle the 3D Visualizer. Other than that, MyDMX works fantastic. The machine is a mere 833Mhz PIII and 512MB RAM, so definately not a beast except for the size of it.

Forgive me for being lazy. I'm just simply not in a position to take the time to reseach your video card specs. Chances are, if it's less than 3 years old(maybe 5 years old), you're probably fine anyways because the industry specs have changed so much and video card technology has gotten so much less expensive to produce, I doubt the video memory is the issue.

Now, as computer literate as I am, I have problems with the 3D Visualizer. It's just something that needs practice to work with. Without knowing MORE, it's difficult to determine if it's you(in my case, it was ME), or if it's something else. Ensure you have the latest version of MyDMX installed from the ADJ web site. Be patient. Move slow, safe often. CHances are you're just fumbling around trying to figure stuff out. Don't quit.

Again, get the latest version and keep at it. Check your modes(be in USER mode, not construction mode).

Also, are you downloading right now and not paying? No, I'm not damning you. You might be in the "try without buying mode", which is a super cool feature of ADJ's MyDMX software, as you can try it forever if you want, but you can't really do an event until you BUY the hardware. To which I say: just keep at it, and please do so, because the MyDMX product is a good package and I hope you like it so much you want to buy it. But if you've already bought it, then hey, great choice. Just stay patient and calm and slowly learn it. I think Jingles even did some YouTube stuff for training with it. There might be something there.

Why don't you walk us through a typical screwing around session that you're working on the 3D Visualizer to see if I can figure out where your problems are. In my case, it was excessive zooming in/out and having issues relating to the 3D Environment.
Thanks for your reply. I do own the hardware, I bought it right away, and I have the latest download as per the adj site. I love the software, and am learning my way through it.

I primarily use it to program 24 led par 64's and a couple of specials for my band, an 80's big hair tribute band, and I'm next getting a lazer fixture or two.

I'm very happy with it, am learning my way around it, but my lights are stored in a garage, and one of the reasons I got this software was so I could set up different show configurations for a LOT of songs and not have to hook the lights up everytime to do it. It's 100 degrees plus around here most days :0)

When I turn on the 3d visualizer

A: I don't get a full window.

B: if I add a fixture it might show up anywhere, I can't manipulate it into the configuration I want.... the fixture will simply disappear off the screen not to be recovered, they change colors and SIZE as I move them... and the same with truss and stands. I can't build a plot.

If I do get a plot of ANY kind built and then try to give the lights instructions (color etc) , nothing happens on the visualizer. Nothing.

A typical plot for me would be

A goalpost truss over the drums with 8 64's and a tri phase centered directly over the drums, a tree with 4 64's stage left and right rear , and two side fill trees with 4 pars left and right front side for wash.

Also, I get a limited mode message whenever I try to use the visualizer.

I know I have the juice to run this program because when I hook it up physically to the lights it works perfectly and easily.

Thanks for any help and suggestions. I really like this program and I find it, aside from the visualizer, to be one of the few that actually performas as advertised.

use the link above and download and install that version. The april 30th 2010 version has not worked on our web site as a god download since it was uploaded Frowner So use that link and reinstall the software.
The reason you see limited mode is because the same people who made my dmx also make our compu live software with Elation and have a full 3D version which the my dmx hardware does not support. So your not really limited. The only thing you can't do is record a video of the 3D from within the 3D visualizer program itself but I never use that feature anyways. Make sense? Like always any questions let me know.
Sincerely,
