I hated to do it, and didnt really get much for it,
but I Ebay'd my Q-D3 mixer. It was agreat lil' mixer, but I needed a BNC light, so I bought
a discontinued but new Jemini PS676 (cheap POS). It was the last straw Saturday night, when I barely could read the list on a CD jacket because it was dark.

The Jemini will be hooked up this Saturday for a retirement party I'm doing. I know they suck big time and look cheap, but it has a BNC light socket, and I have 2 gooseneck lights in my DJ JUNK BIN out in the garage from previous mixers that had BNC sockets. The new Jeminis NOW DONT HAVE BNC SOCKETS...
what gives? I also have a Lil' Lite stand-alone
light, but I keep dropping it and the cast-iron
platform doesnt sit well on a small coffin (PS-SYS)

Is this the future of all mixers? No mo' BNC sockets? Is it the $$$? The cost of having a 120V to 12V converter built inside the mixer?

Well there are a couple of factors, 1 of the biggest is that many people now use Power Conditioners with their own lights. Or you can get a "Rack Light" (an led tube) that comes in both 10" and 19" versions and has like 16 colors, I have one in my system. So when the manufacturer finds out that like only 10% of people actually use/care about a feature like this, they would rather use the couple of extra dollars and put into something that every user will appreciate, like better faders, better mic circuitry and such. Thus offering a better mixer for the same coin.
I know I've seen lights that plug into an XLR mic jack. I think it was even in ADJ's new catalog, but I could be wrong (at work, catalog at home).
I need to get one of those anyway. Outside shows at night have been troublesome. Reaching for the Maglite every two minutes gets old fast.
Yeah I must admit having a hands-free light source makes a hell of a difference. I did consider the light attachment feature when I was looking and found the same dilemma....why is it manufacturers think that only 19" mixers need a light? We all work in the dark don't we???

Anyways frustrated with that dilemma I decided to make my own and mount it on my coffin. I'll take some pictures and post them up soon. Cheers

ROQ out.
I have a Furman Power Cond/light on my amp rack but it doesnt do much good sitting on the
ground while I'm using the PS SYS Coffin
with a QuikLoK stand.

DJ Skilz, tell the guys to put that BNC light
socket on your Q-D5!!! Its embarassing toting
that Jemini around...another mobile glanced at it at Saturday's gig and smiled (just kidding) but Jemini really suck and look like radioshack. I like the guys at Jemini tho, they are cool (at the Mobile Beat convention)
